DocOctavius made a nice 3D rendering of the Master Chief, from models and textures extracted from Halo and some freeware rendering tools. He posted it over in the HBO forum and gave us permission to add it to our community art gallery. He promises poseable versions soon.

I'm working on rigging the model and getting other things (elite, grunt, warthog) properly unwrapped for some nice wallpapers and short video clips...
Hopefully soon it'll support reflections and stuff- right now bumpmaps and specular maps work just fine.
A few bugs in the 3.0 release needed fixing, so now there's SparkEdit 3.01. Don't spend the .01 all in one place, guys, and check HaloMods for the latest version. There's also a promotional video for the program.

Don't know how we missed this, but way back on February 6, longtime Bungie community members Clan Plaid opened their very own Halo server. It should be in the lists as #CP#_For_Fun_&_Honor!. Official "Halo Nights" are Mondays at 9 P.M. eastern time.

Blackstar of Blackstar Productions, that yesterday released a video of the Offensive Tetraboxing LANfest held by HBO's Louis Wu, mentioned in the HBO forum that a second part of the video will also be available soon.
Inspired by the spritelike characters of the Halo comic Halo:Resolution, a bunch of aspiring artists in the Squidi.net forum have made a series of Halo-related sprites. Word is Louis Wu will try and build an archive of them at HBO, pending permission from the artists. In case it doesn't happen, go check out the threads now.
Grenadiac has put up version 3 of the PC Halo level editor SparkEdit up at HaloMods. Also, earlier this month, somehow it escaped our notice that another Halo editing app, HMT, is being ported to the Macintosh at MacHaloMods.

It's called HALO: Offensive Tetraboxing and it's clocks in at a little over 9 minutes and 93 megabytes.

On the off chance that you haven't been paying attention, longtime Halo forum denizen BOLL has been experimenting with various Flash-based pranks in the HBO forum. The latest is more than that; it's a game that puts you behind a LAAG cannon with a whole host of animated grunts to fight. Almost as addictive as Halo itself! Try it out. Thanks Louis Wu.
