Halo 2 is the highly-anticipated sequel to Bungie's award-winning science fiction first person shooter for the Xbox, Halo.

Mat "shunji" Noguchi, that is, Bungie curmudgeon. Frankie has offered him up sacrificially to answer questions on the Bungie.net forum (largely as a distraction from spoilers, no doubt). So far a lot of questions, and not many answers, although the thread is so long it might be hard to find Mat's answers if they are there; or perhaps his answers will be posted in a separate thread. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: On Friday the answers will be posted.
Tyson "Ferrex" Green pointed out a post by SiRRis in the TeamXbox forums. It shows boxes of Halo 2, having arrived in some stores already, cleary marked "Do not sell before 11/09/04". Apparently the charge for breaking this rule is equivalent to manslaughter. Just kidding.
Xbox.com has put up a Halo 2 Midnight Madness Store Locator to help you find a store near you that will open at midnight on November 9 to start selling Halo 2.
UPDATE: Blackstar points out that this "locator" actually just goes to EB's list of stores; but since some stores on the list are not opening at midnight, you should call the store beforehand and check.
AEG sends word that a documentary entitled Making the Video Game: Halo 2 will air on MTV on Friday, November 5 at 11 PM ET/PT, giving a behind-the-scenes look at the games, and involving the bands Hoobastank and Incubus, who are contributing to the soundtrack album, also due out with the game on November 9.
How Stuff Works has interviewed Pete Parsons from Bungie about storytelling in computer games. He talks about how Bungie fleshed out the Halo universe. Thanks Rams at Halo Planet.
The I Love Bees Alternative Reality Game, scheduled to end on Halo 2's release day, may be getting closer to finishing up. Louis Wu at HBO writes that the 404 page at ILB.com is now instructing players to gather in certain cities on November 4 for a "training exercise", which some fans speculate may involve... playing Halo 2.
Frankie's guide to dual wielding at Bungie.net, published on October 26, revealed that there is at least one Covenant weapon that has not yet been revealed, and that it is dual wieldable. No other information is currently available.
Magazine articles have referred to a weapon called the "beam rifle" which may be separate from the Plasma Rifle and the Covenant Carbine, and has also not yet been seen. It may or may not be the unrevealed dual wieldable weapon to which Frankie refers.
Slashdot recently interviewed author Neal Stephenson, and his response to a question about the merging of novels with games turned up information on ILB:
It has already happened in the form of the I Love Bees alternate reality game, which, as many of you must know, is a promotional campaign for Halo 2. I know the people who did it, but I have lost track of what I promised not to reveal publicly, and so will shut up for now.
The next part of Bungie's Guides by Frankie is up at Bungie.net. This one covers Dual Wielding. There's a list of weapons that can be dual wielded, including the plasma pistol and rifle, the human pistol and SMG, the needler, and an as-yet-unrevealed Covenant weapon. You can wield any combination of two of these weapons in either hand.
Awsome stuff... if you haven't seen it already, watch it.
but my question for everybody, is i found this image in the commercal... what is it? it's seen right after he jumps on some spiked thing to fly out of the ship, and right before the boards a ghost.
[image:8374 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0]Two Halo 2-related additions to the site today. The first is the Halo2.com Decoded gallery; akba and dogchow produced translated texts for each of the images on the Halo2.com flash site, and superimposed the English text on the images to make it readable by all.
