Up And Down, Up And Down
In the last couple of days, two Halo sites: Forerunners.org and Break Point Halo, have both had to go down for repairs and have come back up. Everyone applaud.
It's Big, It's Heavy, It's Wood
OK, normally we don't go around willy-nilly pointing at people's petitions. But this one is politely worded, and is a reasonable, and I would imagine not too onerous, feature to request. Gary Williams has put up a request to add a logging feature to the Halo Dedicated Server and the PC Halo client, to aid in creating statistical analyses for player ratings and ladders, as well as other things. SketchFactor writes at Bungie.net that they're holding a Halo-Ween pumpkin carving contest; carve up a Halo-themed pumpkin, take a photo of it, and email it to feedback@bungie.com before October 31, 2003. 3DAvenue Wants Random Access Halo
The reviewer for 3DAvenue liked Halo pretty well. They gave it an 87 rating, and said it "defines FPS action."
Their complaints were different from the standard ones; the lack of "nonlinear action" seem to bother them a lot, but I think this is a function of just having played through the game once. They seem not to have noticed that, having played through each level once, one may access it again at one's leisure. True nonlinear action isn't found in the campaign mode of any recent shooter I'm aware of.

Iron Forge Releases Banshee Wars
HaloMods sends word of an Xbox Halo mod called Banshee Wars by Iron Forge; the original Banshee has been turned into a bomber, and a second type of Banshee, a Jet, has been added. Several weapons have been modified to fire homing projectiles.
American Takes Halo Gold Medal In Seoul
Matt "Zyos" Leto from the Dream Team competed in the World Cyber Games in Seoul, Korea and went undefeated, earning the gold medal. Thanks to Dolbex at Been Mawed for the heads-up.
Blood Gulch Chronicles DVD Nearing Completion
gus over at Red vs. Blue notes that they've been looking over a release candidate for their first DVD, and while the director's commentary is shaping up, it still isn't quite ready.
Ars Technica On Microsoft In Gaming
oddworld18 pointed out an article on ars technica concerning the Xbox; comments and flames galore regarding Bungie, Microsoft, Gearbox and Halo are in the thread. Go have a look.
Gamespot Guide For PC Halo
Scimitarex also gets props for pointing out a Halo Guide at GameSpot (free registration appears to be required). I'm not sure if this is an entirely new Guide, or if they had one for the Xbox version, but this one mentions new weapons like the flamethrower, so it's clearly geared for PC Halo players. It also includes a walkthrough that covers all the solo play levels.
