gfunk has posted an item over on the Red vs Blue site; it seems that readers Matthew and David sent over some images that purport to show Red vs. Blue has made it to Iraq. (Who knew anyone even played Halo in Iraq... outside the barracks, I mean?) They've also got pics of the series being shown in Game Time Nation in New York City, and ask other RvB fans to send them any other interesting images they might have.
SketchFactor over at Bungie.net has posted the results of the "Ask the Cananimators" feature interview, with answers by anim8rjb and bentlama. While the majority of the answers were with tongue placed firmly in cheek, and related to the genesis of Canadian Bacon, the relative coolness factor of the OHL and the CFL, and the prospects for the Toronto Maple Leafs, some Halo info did creep in there from time to time:
NW: We actually use IK for most of our animation. IK on the arms and legs, feet and other areas. For the most part we are really used to animating with IK. We use FK for the spine, neck, head and wrists and toes. Our animation rig is a mix of a lot of things, and through the power of MEL, it is simple to use and quick to animate with...those are the most important features of any animation rig. Thanks for asking, and please keep posting more questions like this.

Gabe over at Penny Arcade has posted that this month's Gaming Day event, to be held at Lanwerx in Bellevue, WA on August 23, is going to feature a Halo tournament as well as some Halo 2 stuff:
To go along with our Halo tourney, Microsoft will has agreed to come down and show off a bit of Halo 2. We aren't sure yet if it will be the same stuff they showed at E3 or something new but either way it's pretty fucking exciting.
Penny Arcade, of course, is a regular webcomic focusing on gaming that has, at times, mentioned Halo in the past.
DarkHelmet from BattleGround: Halo has been invited to a Halo: PC Fanstock event at the Gearbox headquarters. They promise a big article on it afterwards, so stay tuned.
UPDATE: According to the latest news post at Forerunners.org, Steve is also headed to this event, and no doubt they'll have updates after that as well.
A project that's been on the growing "to-do" list here at Rampancy for quite a long time has finally been begun. While Rampancy has, in the last few years, focused on Bungie's latest franchise, the Xbox flagship game Halo, it was originally conceived as encompassing all Bungie games, and had ambitions to serve as a kind of site-of-record for all things Bungie, under one roof, with one staff and one interface.
Part of that would mean having an archive of images associated with each game-- not just the images themselves, but text accompanying each explaining their place within the history of Bungiedom.
That work has now begun, with the population of image galleries for Myth, Myth 2, Myth 3, Marathon, Marathon 2, Marathon Infinity, Oni and Pathways Into Darkness. We've started with the official screenshots released by Bungie on their own site, as well as scraps we found kicking around our hard drives. We are working now to supply commentary for each, starting with Marathon and Myth. Galleries for Halo and Halo 2 are being built, but annotation has not yet begun, although we have today added many images to the galleries of Halo hacks inside our community gallery. If anyone has other images they'd like to see included, feel free to let me know.
However, there aren't many people-- at least, not many apart from Louis Wu-- who can consider themselves walking encyclopedias of Bungie lore, so there are certain to be holes in the record. With an eye towards fixing that problem, every image in the gallery can have comments attached to it, like all other items at Rampancy. If anyone sees a remark that seems amiss, or sees an image that sparks a memory from their own experience playing a Bungie game-- please, feel free to go ahead and post a comment.
Nick has come up with a whole slew of images featuring vehicles on the multiplayer maps... where you don't usually see them. They first went up in the HBO forum, and we've archived them here for posteriority.
These items have been discussed at two of the major remaining Myth sites, MythVillage and MBO, but we'll reference it here just for completeness. MythDev, a group of developers continuing to update and extend Bungie's original Myth games, Myth: The Fallen Lords (TFL for short) and Myth 2: Soulblighter, recently released a patch for Myth: TFL called 1.4. Among other things, it allowed users of Mac OS X to play TFL natively.
However, the patch also broke compatibility with one of the two remaining metaservers for Myth online play: MariusNet. Which, in itself, might not be a huge problem... except that MythDev runs the only other remaining metaserver, PlayMyth.
In order to ease the creation of many of the interesting hacks that have come up in the past few days, eXentric has created a map editor called Cartographer for editing map cache files, as well as a forum to discuss map editing. Thanks again Louis Wu.

Jon the Baptist at MythVillage has posted that MalektheAncient has put a new version of the "Creep on the Borderlands" map that was ported to Myth 3 up at The Mill. It now features the original unit count as well as three meshes.
