synide at cookedgamers writes that Angel Munoz of CPL is threatening to cancel the Halo PC tournament portion of their summer event if more teams do not register before February 13. Apparently fewer teams have registered for PC Halo than for all other games.
As if to underscore some of the points in the recently rumored Xbox 2 specifications, Eurogamer has put up an article showing that the Xbox's lead over Nintendo's GameCube in Europe is still healthy, although both lag far behind top dog Sony and their PlayStation 2.
More writeups and photos from Louis Wu's latest LANfest, Offensive Tetraboxing, are starting to pop up. Ryan 'Mhaddy' Matthews at The Junkyard writes that Dan Chosich from 2070 Wired Films has made a writeup with a short movie.
BOLL over at halo.7708.net pointed us to Omnight Handy Software, which a few days ago released a new version of HHHT, or Helpful Halo Hacking Tool. The application applies PPF files to Halo maps. The guys over at the Halo Story Page were able to get Eric Nylund, author of Halo: The Fall of Reach and Halo: First Strike, as well as Eric Trautmann, the guy at Microsoft most closely connected to the Halo backstory, to sit still long enough to answer a few questions about the Halo storyline. Some of them are about small details and possible errors. The really interesting bits:
The March print issue of MacAddict has a review of Halo by Niko Coucouvanis; it's on pages 38 and 39. They give the game 5 stars (which translates to "Awesome!" in their rating system). They review the game in typical MacAddict style:
Dean Takahashi has written an article up at the Mercury News right now that purports to be "quietly circulated" specifications for the next version of Microsoft's gaming console, the Xbox. They can be boiled down to several points:
Louis Wu of HBO, who is hosting a LANfest this weekend at which there are a number of Halo luminaries, as well as a film crew from Film Oasis, the team that made the Xbox documentary for the Discovery channel and is working on a Halo 2 documentary right now, has put up one group photo so far; there's far too much playing going on for much else, the first round of which started between 12 midnight and 3 AM.
Frankie's latest installment of the Bungie Weekly Update is over at HBO right now. This week he stresses that there's no trickery involved in the grandeur that is the new Halo 2 screenshot:
