Impressions: Delta Halo
After the Metroplis closing cutscene, most fans were getting set to break out the pitchforks and the torches to protest that Halo 2 was denying them what they had expected to get-- a long, drawn-out, large-scale invasion of Earth to battle against. That's a shame, because the next two levels, Delta Halo and Regret, are where Halo 2 really starts to shine, although there still are a number of differences from the first game that may eventually prompt fans to fire up the prequel.

New Year's News In The Haloverse
Last day of news in the Haloverse for 2004! Thanks to HBO, MGL and Demented Puppy, among others.
- HBO's Halo 2 Cutscene Library reaches the Heretic boss battle. Dear Lord I hate seeing the phrases "Halo 2" and "boss battle" in the same sentence --Ed.
- Another Halo 2 vs Half-Life 2 feature at GameDaily.
- VerdaFolio expounds on the Zombies and Dawn of the Dead gametypes people are making in Halo 2 on Xbox Live.
- Dolbex says that the mlgTV Video On Demand season for 2005 will start on January 10 and that synide is working hard on it.
- The BBC's Darren Waters picked Halo 2 as his personal favorite of the year's games.
Halo Tournament In Calgary
Framerate posted over at HaloPlanet about FragFest 2K5, a Halo tournament in Calgary from January 28-29. Check the Maasai Clan website for details.
UPDATE: The tournament has been delayed until late March, and the organizers are hoping to involve the Canadian Gaming League.
Mac Halo Gets Another Update
Halo for the Mac has gotten another update, 1.51 to fix various bugs with ATI hardware. You can get it at MacUpdate or HBO.

Bungie Jumping Into The Big Time
Bungie news from an unusual source today: Business Week talks to Matt Soell, Alex Seropian, and (no kidding here) Durandal Brytting of Stockholm who legally changed his name in honor of the rampant AI from Marathon about how Bungie keeps alive a small studio feel from deep inside Microsoft. Thanks HBO.

The Halo 2 Impressions section has been updated today with a writeup of Metropolis, a vehicle-heavy level that's great if you like driving in straight lines. We kid because we love.
