An Associated Press story from Beijing describes the country's first "officially licensed clinic for Internet addiction". The story's headline at Yahoo News misleadingly refers to "addicted video game players"; while the story mentions that much of the time the heaviest Internet users spend at their computers is playing games, the clinic itself does not appear to be specific to games but rather to Internet use in general.
UK Man Convicted Of Selling Modded Xboxes With Pirated Games
The BBC has the story that a 22-year-old UK resident and Cambridge graduate was sentenced to 140 hours community service and ordered to pay £750 in court costs after being caught selling modified Xbox consoles, fitted with a 200GB hard drive and 80 pre-installed games.
The UK's enactment of the EU Copyright Directive in 2003 makes the modification of consoles illegal; Sony won a case prohibiting the sale of modchips in the UK in 2004.

Two New Halo Custom Edition Maps Released
Modders of Halo games on the Xbox may be holding their breath while HaloMods is closed pending an upcoming auto update. In the meantime, Gearbox's PC Halo fork, Halo: Custom Edition, is still getting new user-created content. Verdafolio at Demented Puppy Dot Com this week noted the release of two new maps: ColdRush by JackBauer and Dualing Keeps by DOMINATOR.
