A typical FPS shot featuring a weapon; in this case, what appears to be a sniper rifle. I've included a sequence of images to cover the reloading of the weapon, since that's all we're shown of it.
The Traveler hovers over the last city while spaceships zoom around it. This trailer is shorter than the ViDoc and only has a certain amount of content that is truly "new" but it does appear to offer more in-engine footage, including things that were only seen in concept art form in the ViDoc. There are several different shots from a balcony overlooking the city and the Traveler that appear to be in-engine.
I already think this is my favorite faction t-shirt.
Bungie announces Destiny for the PlayStation 4 at Sony's press event on February 20, 2013. The system will arrive by the end of this year.
Bungie co-founder Alexander Seropian, who left Bungie after Halo 1 to found Wideload Games back in Chicago, has found himself a new gig: he's teaming up with another Bungie alum, Brent Pease of Oni fame, and Tim Harris, co-founder of Industrial Toys.
An obvious troll slings some mud at Bungie and manages to provoke a thoughtful resopnse from Achronos about Bungie's plans for deep social integration between Bungie.net and Destiny:
Bungie's first Mail Sack since the Destiny reveal is open for questions at Bungie.net. Deej also includes word that "a steady cadence of updates" is planned, so if the reveal only left you wanting more, don't worry, it's coming.
So go ahead and submit your questions!
MrGreencastle in the DBO forum also picked apart some of the images from the ViDoc, taking a detailed look at what they might mean for Destiny's interface and gameplay features.
Ex-Bungie Community Guy Matt Soell, who was with the company during the early Halo days, has penned a response to some of the complaints about Destiny's reveal being more "hype" than "substance". It's well worth a read, so please go take a look (Warning: little bit of NSFW language. No images, but some imagery.)
If you ask me, though, the crux of the issue is right here:
Ben Kuchera at the Penny Arcade Report seems optimistic about the possibilities for a PC version of Destiny. That's good, I suppose, given the number of people threatening dire consequences to Bungie on Twitter if they don't.
IGN's commentary around the ViDoc reveal was very pessimistic about the possibility, saying Bungie would only mention current and next-gen consoles, but Bungie's Pete Parsons has given PC owners reason to hope:
Activision/Blizzard has posted their official press release. I've archived it here. Near the bottom they put a tidbit for Bungie fans with a penchant for rampant speculation:
Activision reiterated that although Bungie's amazing new world was revealed today, Activision has not included the launch in its 2013 outlook and there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result.
