oni will not run on the default video card included with the beige G3 series. you will have to get an expansion 3D card. sorry, we tried. :(

Matt sent the latest weekly Oni update to Oni Central today; apparently he expects it to be the last. Among other things, he addresses the issue of the leaked beta, and says that a GM of the Mac version is imminent.

Ah, nothing like a week off to refresh the palate. And nothing like an encouraging Halo update to greet you on the return. The folks at HBO have recieved this week's Halo Update from Matt, and the topic du jour is the engine. An excerpt:
Kudos to Sauth, who pointed out eleven new Oni shots and some related information at MacNN. Along with some character descriptions, the short feature shows what appears to be Oni's training tutorial, pitting Konoko against a drone of some sort. Interesting implementation, if the interpretation is correct.
Nijhazer kindly warned us on our forum that Gamespot.com's new Oni review contains far more information about Oni's story (as well as a lot about its gameplay) than many fans will wish to know before playing the game. So I'm not actually going to post a link to it. If you want to see it, visit the site, go to the article, and don't say you weren't warned. :-)
Max Hoberman (aka Yeroen) of Bungie stopped by the community forum last night to let everyone know that the Myth TFL multiplayer server is back in action. Get in on some good ol' nostalgic carnage while the gettin's good!
Here's something to be thankful for: Chris Butcher has confirmed on the Oni Central forum that (as Gamespy had previously asserted) you can play as more than 50 characters. Many (though not all) have unique repertoires of moves.
Elsewhere on that forum, chef from Bungie West gave the most detailed explanation yet of why blood was removed from Oni. It should satisfy most of the remaining naysayers on this issue.
Those of you with eidetic memories will recall that Sybex had an ad for its guides at E3, which included an image of a Halo guide--and that when we asked Bungie employees there about it, they said Sybex was being (at the least) somewhat premature. :-)
