Bungie Sightings Recaps Halo 2 Demo
Mnemesis over at Bungie Sightings has posted his impressions from the Halo 2 demonstration at MS' E3 press conference. He seemed pretty impressed, especially with some of the new wrinkles the sequel is sporting:

Sioflake has posted that there are now 21 teams registered for the Myth World Cup 2003. If one more team doesn't register to make up a field of 24, then teams 21, 22 and 23 will have to forego competition in order that a bracket for 20 teams can be made. The site has instructions on how to register a team, the tournament rules, as well as plenty of other information.
Earlier this year, unnoticed by us here at Rampancy (fancy that) the long-standing disputes over the ownership of the source code for the popular Hotline chat and pira.... err, file-sharing client and server seem to have come to an interesting conclusion, with the open-sourcing of the code for Hotline 1.x and the publication of the protocol specifications. The new project has been renamed OpenSprings. Apparently the code is available either under GPL or a commercial license.
Earlier this month there was a new release of the SDL version of the Marathon 1 scenario for Aleph One, commonly referred to as M1A1. You can see the news posted by Tophet at Orbital Arm, and the files themselves are available from the Aleph One downloads page, from Fileball, and Bungie.org.
We've gone in and pruned some of the dead wood out from the links and news feeds sections, as well as adding in a few new items, most notably the G-Spy news feed. Later this year we hope to revamp Rapmancy almost entirely, adding new features and content. Stay tuned.
There are other stories on the PC held by MS at E3 (everybody with us so far?) at HomeLAN Fed, TeamXbox and Eurogamer.
Reuters has reported that Microsoft's Home and Entertainment division, which produces the Xbox and contains developers like Bungie Studios and others that make games for it, lost $190 million USD in Q3 2002, which ended on March 31. This compares to a loss of $97 M in the same quarter the year before. Quarterly revnue was nearly cut in half, dropping from $943 M to $493 M.
BusinessWeek Online has a story where author Andrew Bunnie Huang claims to have pre-sold over 400 copies of his controversial, as-yet-to-be-published title Hacking the Xbox: an Introduction to Reverse Engineering . Huang is self-publishing the volume on May 27.
In the Reuters Technology section on Yahoo News, there's a story summarizing the events of Microsoft's press conference at E3, and it does, of course, mention the Halo 2 demonstration.
The co-founder of the company that is currently porting Halo to the Mac, Westlake Interactive, one of the longest running and best-known Mac porting houses, is leaving the company to work at Aspyr Media, according to a story at InsideMacGames.
