Halo 3 Rumor Control

With a long quiet period after the release of Halo 2, Halo 3 was perhaps the most speculated-about Bungie game in a decade.

Would it be a shooter? An RTS? An MMO?

Were they even making it? Was someone else making it?

Now we know (most) of the answers, but the questions are still of interest. Below are articles about Halo 3 rumors.

Xbox 360

A lot of things about the console that would become the Xbox 360 were not clear before it was released.

Would it be backwards compatible-- yes or no? The answer ended up being... sort of.

Microsoft And Modchips

Microsoft doesn't want you to modify your Xbox or Xbox 360. It voids your warranty. It might let you pirate games, meaning less revenue for Microsoft and its partners. You might use it to run Linux. Or you might use it to cheat on Xbox Live.

Is it possible for Microsoft to stop modding? Should they try? Or is there a way to engage with the modding community in a way that makes sense for everyone?

Possibly a stupid question... but it has been bothering me for a long time....

I have one simple question. (Or statement if you will...)

How come in Halo: CE cortana reads into the covenant battle net and tells us that the covenant discovered that Halo was some sort of weapon.

THis was crazy, beacause if they knew it was a weapon then why would they believe in the great journey>?

I have a few theories for this.

1. Cortana already knew Halo was a weapon and she didn't actualy hear talk of that on the battle net.
