Halo 2 seems to be topping everybody's lists these days-- the XBL games list, the sales charts-- oh, except the list that watchdog groups like the so-called Interfaith Council make of most violent games. Fifth? After Half-Life 2 at number 4? Bungie gets no respect... Thanks GameSpot.
[image:8794 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0] KP has posted up some photos of the setup he created to play Halo 2 in the HBO forum, and invited others to do likewise.
Stuntmutt today praises Halo 2's surround sound, but points out a sound that might have been added to good effect.
A full list of all the skulls in Halo 2 has been provided to Halo2Source by abhinav; one apparently unlocks a level of difficulty higher than Legendary. The list has this as confirmed but I haven't seen confirmation as yet.
Online comic Dork Tower shows what happens when Halo fans and grunge fans collide... uncomfortably.
Shadow Panther has put an almost painful amount of detail concerning Halo 2's weapons into a series of tables that keep track of how many shots and how much time each individual weapon and dual wield combo takes to kill a fully shielded target, broken down into head and body shots. He's also done a page where he ranks each weapon according to effectiveness.
This is roughly analogous to the early portion of Pillar of Autumn where the tutorial is. It performs the same function, letting you choose normal or inverted controls, and showing you how the shields work. You will have a chance to look at characters close up here; the levels of detail presented on faces seem to vary wildly, not just between cutscenes and gameplay, but from character to character.
Of course, the ODST giving you a run-down on the new suit doesn't really need to be that detailed, since you're never going to see him again-- at least not in this context.
Although this is listed as a level, it's really just a cutscene. As the game itself does later, this switches between the story of John 117, the Master Chief, receiving a hero's welcome on Cairo Station with Sgt. Johnson, Cortana and Lord Hood, and the Covenant Elite in charge of chasing the Pillar of Autumn from Reach to Halo being punished for his failure to protect the ring or destroy the human craft.
[image:8779 left hspace=5 vspace=5 border=0] I've written up a short account with photos of my recent trip to London-- or, rather, the side trip to have a few beers with Stuntmutt, author/artist of the Halo comic One One Se7en.
As soon as my business trip plans for London last week were finalized, I knew I was going to have to arrange to meet up with at least one Bungie fan in the city. The first and most obvious choice was Stuntmutt, the author and artist behind the Halo comic One One Se7en, hosted at HBO. (Apologies to c0ld vengeance, whom neither of us thought to call until the second beer-- catch you next time, promise.)
Halo 2 roundups simply refuse to die. So here is all the stuff you read about somewhere else while I was sleeping on an airplane with a wet towel wrapped around my head:
