We noticed over at ActiveXbox there was a link to a new FAQ at the official support site for the Xbox. Among the interesting items were these:
According to this BBC article, Microsoft announced the European launch date of the Xbox on Tuesday at a gala unveiling in Cannes, France at the home of designer Pierre Cardin.
The console will debut at a cost of £299 ($433). In comparison, Sony just lowered the price of the PlayStation 2 to to £199 ($288).
Microsoft is keen to avoid the problems Sony suffered with PS2 availability last year:
Any old school Myth player remembers the Gates of Covenant. Among the early fansites dedicated to Myth, GoC was always quick to deliver news and quality content. Unfortunately, it went inactive a few years ago and completely disappeared shortly afterwards. We have Some Loser to thanks for its return, which presents the Gates of Covenant in its fullest.
Kudos to Harry, who today became the 50th registered user of the New Rampancy system since we opened late last week, in a rather unplanned and disorganized way due to an unexpected hardware failure.
The original plan, of course, had been to beta test the new site for a few weeks before foisting it on the world, but hard drive platters heed the best-laid plans of neither man nor beast. Or something like that.
And the Acronym Attack strikes again... that Halo Preview at xbox.ign.com we wrote about earlier also has nine new Halo screenshots taken from the TGS, and they're pretty good quality.

Well, it looks like BattleGround: Halo's news script is working again, because they've got a bevy of news items from the Tokyo Game Show. Most of them are similar to the items here and elsewhere-- new movies, new screenshots, etc.
However, they've got one item about a poll at GameSpy that's new-- a poll pitting the Xbox vs. the GameCube. The poll is in the narrow bar on the lefthand side of the home page, about halfway down.
Awhile ago we ran a report that Halo had missed out on Game of Show and even Runner Up honors at the Tokyo Game Show. Among the issues cited in articles at the time was that Halo was still having some framerate problems.
We mentioned that it wasn't a good omen that Halo couldn't meet its 30 frames per second lock we remembered being told it would have, especially when games on rather pedestrian PC hardware were getting far higher rates, even if they were fluctuating.
CoreMagazine.com has posted an interview with Microsoft games division vice president Ed Fries, responsible for the Xbox, and Yutaka Haruki, Japanese Xbox division manager. There are a few notes about the reduction in hard drive size, and the reduction of the Xbox's controller size (in Japan), but Halo also gets a mention when they asked Fries about the Xbox in the Japanese market:
