Well, Andrew Nagy mentioned in an HBO post some ambitious entrepreneur from Atlanta, Georgia has already decided to try and cash in on his Xbox Halo preorder by selling it off on Ebay. From the pitch:
If you are a parent, buy this for your child right now!!! Think of how your child will feel if he or she doesn't have the hottest Xbox game out this Christmas. Buying this now will save you a fortune in therapy bills down the road.
The listing seems to violate Ebay's listing guidelines, specifically those regarding pre-sale items. It's OK to list things at Ebay that you don't have in your possession at the time of listing, but only as long as the seller guarantees that the item will be available for shipping within 30 days from the date of purchase. Also, a listing for such an item is supposed to indicate that it is a pre-sale listing, and this one doesn't. In fact, it says the game is guaranteed to ship on November 15th -- which might be true, but Halo hasn't even gone gold master yet as far as we know.
Whoever this is better hope Halo isn't delayed by anything, and his preorder arrives on time.
At the moment, the current bid is $58.84; the buy-now price is $69.99.
