Thanks to Louis Wu who wrote in to Bungie.net about Coldnose Sloth, who successfully recreated the serial number generator for Marathon. Wu has tweaked it, massaged it, and given it a web interface, for those times when you need some extra serial numbers for multiplayer.

Hawty McBloggy has put up the nominations for the 2008 Best of Halo awards, divided into ten categories, over at HawtyMcBloggy.com and Rampancy's been nominated, in the best resource website category. Up against the 800lb. gorilla that is HBO one can't expect to do more than score a point here or there, but the real honor is being nominated.

Bad Cyborg covers some interesting techniques for tackling Tsavo Highway on foot. This is a lot of fun, if you've never tried it, you're missing out. A level that with vehicles and support troops is a quick breeze through the trees with a couple of thorny spots becomes a nice challenge all the way through.
Okay, first of all, I know, there's no such thing as official Mythic difficulty in Halo 3. That's what people call playing solo, legendary, all skulls on (HSH calls them SLASO to create more acronyms).

You know Captain Spark. The guy who records all those audio snippets from Halo games? Yeah, that's him. He's weighed in now with a review of Halo 3's campaign. He starts by getting two beefs of his chest (the over-aggressive Arbiter and the so-called "Cortana Moments") before getting to what he likes. Well worth a read, go check it out.
Well, it's been awhile since COD4 and Halo 3 did the flip-flop on Major Nelson's ranking of top games on Xbox Live, but it's happened again: Halo 3 is number one, and COD4 is number two. Again.
Version 0.20.2 of Aleph One, the open source engine for playing Marathon games on MacOS, Windows and Linux, has been released.
After transcribing "Unforgotten" into a full score, I decided to do it again for the updated version, "Never Forget". I did it to the best of my ability, had to guess on some things, but I played it side by side with the Halo 3 CD and it sounded pretty darn close, if not exact, to me. So I think I got it right. Also, at measure 25, I couldn't quite pin down which key Marty switches to so I just left it in G Maj/E min. until measure 51 when he obviously goes back to the original key of "Unforgotten" (which is A flat Maj/F min).
This is a transcription done by myself concerning Unforgotten from Halo 2. There are 3 horns, full string orchestra, and a piano. I do not have a MIDI or MP3 of this file as of yet. Shouldn't need one anyway. Just listen to the Halo 2 CD. Anyway, hope you like this one.
