poll

GameSpot has one of those poll thingies that asks which 2004 release you're most looking forward to. In honor of that, all the game titles have been converted into their leetspeak equivalents; how cute.More to the point, Halo 2... err, that is, H4L0 2, currently leads the pack with 28% of the vote, perhaps because it's the most legible entry, but if any Bungie fans are at all worried, you might as well go put in your two cents. Thanks Louis Wu at HBO.

SketchFactor of B.net posted in the HBO forum that MTV is holding a poll to determine the best game of the new millenium, called the Ultimate Video Game Countdown. Halo is one of many options. Oddly enough, rather than trying to control multiple voting, MTV's poll system actually suggests it, providing a link "feel free to vote again".

We just closed our last poll, about the forum format. You can see the results of that (or any other old poll) on the polls page. With 150 votes, the UBB-style forum beat out the WebBBS style forum. However, the result is hardly a landslide, and for most of the poll's life the two formats were neck and neck. This means we are still going to dig back into R.net's code and try to fix up the forum with more WebBBS-like features, some of which were in the last iteration of R.net but were lost in the last upgrade. Drupal is about to update to 4.3, so hopefully whent that codebase freezes, we'll install it and then get to work on the forum.

The new poll up is about PC Halo; whether you will buy it, have bought it, or won't buy. All we ask is that if you're planning on buying it, but haven't yet, and don't have moral objections to Amazon, that you click through to our new shop page and see if you can order Halo there. (Pre-orders for Mac Halo and Halo 2 are also on that page, as well as specialty items like the Ultimate Halo Companion DVD Set. Also, if you put the keyword Halo into the Books search category, you'll find Halo: The Flood, Halo: Fall Of Reach, the Prima Strategy Guide, the Sybex guide, and a pre-order link for Halo: First Strike.) Rampancy, like any fansite, costs money to run. (Hey, we're not complaining, we're doing this voluntarily.) But any help we get from Halo fans who buy through our shop would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Today was the final day for the Half-Life 2's Gordon Freeman vs. Halo's Master Chief poll. And it appears that the vote has been split 50%-50% with a total of 43860 votes. It looks like MC can go toe-to-toe with GF again when HL2 and Halo 2 are released next year. In the meantime put those shot glasses down; time to take care of the babies with the green-visored helmets.

The "Gamespy Grudge" between Half-Life's Gordon Freeman and Halo's Master Chief hasn't ended quite yet; and in a reversal of the early trend, the two are now neck and neck, with Freeman leading only 51% to 49%. If you haven't already, go vote!

We couldn't find the GameSpot poll mentioned at HBO-- perhaps it already closed with Halo named the undisputed victor before we got there.

However, we did find virtually the same poll running at Gaming Age. Currently Halo 2 is trailing The Legend of Zelda 371 to 231, but leading GTA: Vice City (159) and Doom III (81).

Gamespot is running a poll on the most-missed E3 no-show, and Halo is an option-- in two flavors, even. Thanks to Louis Wu at HBO for the heads-up.

The latest poll up at Shacknews asks which platform had the most impressive games at E3 this year.

Currently the Xbox is in third place with 419 votes (15%), edged out by the Nintendo GameCube with 533 votes (19%) and getting demolished by the PC (1504 votes, 56%). Despite the console content, it looks like Shacknews really is a PC gaming site.

Trailing the Xbox were the PS2 (167 votes, 6%) and the GameBoyAdvance (56 votes, 2%).

Voodoo Extreme's poll asking for your pick for console game of the year has ended and Halo absolutely swept the competition with 47% (1928) of the votes.

There is now a new poll asking which game has the best graphics of 2001. Halo is winning with 23% (1098) of the votes, but Return To Castle Wolfenstein is only 88 votes behind. Go vote, and vote often!
