Apparently, crushing numerical superiority has struck a nerve. As posted at halo.bungie.org, Bungie has set up an enlistment page for their SETI team, which recently fell behind the Halo SETI team.
Competition makes everything a bit more interesting, no? If you're into SETI, pick a side and start crunching results for a cause!
Reliable sources have confirmed that some fun loving Admin was merely playing mind games with us (the usual suspects have denied everything), and that the posting mentioned below is indeed a fraud. No great loss, since it offered no new information... should probably try to be a wee bit more skeptical, no?
So much for a quiet evening. Set upon by Bullseye the instant I logged onto BadlandsHL, I was advised that something worth seeing was on the b.net Admin HL server, that impenetrable fortress of solitude where much of our foul plotting takes place.

Kudos to geert, who sends word of a new Halo preview at Ultimate Gamer. The screenshots will be familiar, but there is some interesting new information towards the end, especially concerning the environment. Definitely one to take a look at.
