TeamXbox has put up a story that Microsoft Game Studios and Toys "R" Us are holding a launch party in Times Square on the evening of November 8. The Times Square Toys "R" Us location will open to sell Halo 2 at midnight on November 9, but partyers may get a chance to play Halo 2 while they wait.
We're shortly preparing to upgrade R.net to the newest version of Drupal, 4.5., when it is released, which should be soon.
For that we also have to prepare to change some of the tweaks we use to make our forum look and feel a little bit more like phpBBB and WebBBS, systems the Bungie/Halo community has been using since 1999 (and earlier, for the Myth and Marathon communities) or to stick with the way Drupal does things out of the box (which is more like phpBBB than like WebBBS.
Mat "Shunji" Noguchi seems amused at the reaction to how tidy he keeps (or, rather, doesn't keep) his desk at Bungie, pointed out in the Video Update by Frankie as a "zone of entropy and horror".
Season 3 of Red vs Blue kicks off with Episode 39, The Best Laid Plans. Lores versions are available right now for everybody, since the sponsor restrictions on the new site are not yet in place. Speaking of which, if you haven't seen the new site yet, go ahead and take a look, it's sweet, and you should sign up.
Eric Trautmann notes in his blog that he got his last payment for his work on The Art of Halo just recently-- and ahead of schedule, at that. Also, it seems, this means the book may be out soon:
Ryan_OXM (from the Official Xbox Magazine, it seems) has put up a thread in the TeamXbox forums detailing the contents of the December issue, including a 14-page Halo 2 review. He and their editor in chief, Rob Smith, have apparently already finished the game. Thanks Wiggum who posted in the HBO forum.
According to this thread at GameSpot, SpikeTV is doing a new show called The Ultimate Gamer. Residents of Southern California who want to try out are urged to attend a casting call today, October 12, at 15:00 at MTV Networks, 2600 Colorado Ave., Santa Monica, CA, and bring a photo of your living room and another of your house. Don't know if this is the real deal or not, but it might be.
Joshua Rennart has pulled out a few frames from the recent spoiler footage of what is assumed to be a new theatrical trailer, and tried to figure out what's hitting what. he's pretty sure one part is a Brute, but the other... he's not so sure about. Some have said it's a hunter, which he doesn't consider. Warning: spoilers!
Aero at Halo Impulse interviewed Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford about the port of Halo to the PC. Some of the answers are interesting:
Aero: Is there an alternative way to get a patch for halo CE other than getting 1000 players? Perhaps you could give us a wider range of options that the community can work towards?
The last Bungie Weekly Update by Frankie, this one in video format and apparently subtitled "Sexy Girls Gone Wild Video Edition" is available for download. HBO has put up a mirror page; there are WMP9 and QuickTime versions, both in BitTorrent and in direct download formats.
