If you have been trying to access the forum in the last few minutes, don't panic. The A.I. here at Rampancy isn't raising hell again; we're just updating some things with the server right now. Just a little interesting tidbit. I was idly scanning through the Internic database a few nights before E3 and noticed that Bungie had registered all three konoko top-level domains (com, net and org) on March 17th. I asked some Bungie folk about them at E3 but they aren't yet reporting any solid plans. I wonder when we might see something appear at konoko.com.
Fresh from the hijacked GameWeek computer! A few moments ago, Doug accepted an award from All Gaming Monthly for Most Promising Game of E3. The headling pretty much sums it up, and I'm about to be run off the computer, so we'll leave it at that. Surely the first of many awards to come...
After speaking with Bungie's Doug Zartman on the reports at Blue's News and Gamefan about Oni netplay being scrapped, we have some mixed news. Yes, those reports are true--the sentiment around here is universally do it properly, or don't do it all. Due to the latency issues with Oni's netplay (apparently there were modem builds, and they simply didn't work out), it was decided that internet play wasn't going to work out. And due to the investment in time required to create netmaps and netgames for LAN players, LAN play was shelved in the interest of concentrating on the solo game.
Mumbles posts word that the Oni E3 trailer has been posted on Rampancy HL, in the Oni uploads folder. The 10meg MPEG movie, from Gamefan, can be reportedly be found in the Oni uploads folder at hl.rampancy.net. I haven't checked yet myself, but the guys there will be able to give you the low down if you stop by.
Just a quick update from the floor, courtesy of GameWeek's poorly defended computers. Same shows and demos as yesterday, though we'll have another two articles up tonight or tomorrow, for Halo and Oni both.
Additionally, according to the buzz around here, private showings of a new game have been going on behind closed doors. While we're unlikely to see it or extract any details short of shedding blood, the general feeling is that it will succeed in being cooler than Halo... whoo? Stay tuned.
With all the well deserved furor over Halo here at E3, Oni seems to have been forgotten. However, it is indeed on display, and as such I've put together a report on it as well. To sum up the display:

One more thing I'd like to post, for any Bungie fan who is at or planning to be at E3 today or tonight. Some of us would like to get together for a Gathering of Fans if we could. I've marked out about a half-dozen restaurants that aren't TOO far away from the LA Convention center (I didn't find any cybercafes, damnit) which could possibly be good places to hang at. Chances look pretty good that we could rope a few Bungiefen into hanging out with us there.
