GameSpot has posted a quick little preview on Quake III: Team Arena. Perhaps the dark God of Deathmatch, Carmack, is trying to stay competitive with recent shifts toward teamplay-oriented games?
Those prolific map and TC makers over at Creation have released another new project, this one a Civil War total conversion for Myth II. An excerpt from the PR:
From the mind of Cydonian and the forge of Creation comes 1861: Civil War, a Total Conversion for Myth2.This TC strives for total realism in appearence and combat. The all-new units, seperately modeled for Union and Confederate forces, are rendered with a great level of detail and allow the player to perform aesthetic actions to enhance the realism.
The crew at Haloplayers were the first to report that the UK PC Gamer site has posted up an online text version of the Halo preview in their June 2000 issue.
Kudos to SiliconDream, who pointed out an interesting forum post from Bungie's Matt Soell on halo.bungie.org's forum. A particularily interesting excerpt for you naysayers out there:
Some of you have doubtless wondered why we haven't covered one or two articles in the past couple of days. I've been searching the Internet high and low for post-E3 previews, opinions and other articles on Oni and Halo and have compiled a large listing to save you the need to search. Some of these have probably been posted about at HBO and other sites but others have not yet been mentioned, as far as I know.
I found this advertisement in Game Developer magazine's April 2000 issue a little while ago but at the time was somewhat busy with E3 preparations and other things. This would have gotten to several interested (and potentially talented) individuals just before Game Developer Conference 2000. Working at Bungie? Who could pass up such an opportunity?
Rhys Hill has provided the busy folk at Marathon Open Source with a new build of the open sourced version of Marathon, Aleph One. Comes in two flavors, error checking enabled and diet, so stop by and pick it up if you're keeping up with the project. And be sure to grab the other necessary source files they've posted as well.
It ran a bit longer than we meant, but E3 kinda got in the way of a timely update. Asked whether or not Halo alone would be worth attending E3 for, just under 550 voters replied with a resounding yes:
