All-personnel broadcast: Rampancy HL is up! I've got a backlog of new accounts to add, so bear with me. Carry on.
Matt Soell has confirmed on the halo.bungie.org forum that Bungie's creating a new division to do the movies for their games.
Essentially, Joseph and Marty will be heading up a new team devoted to making cutscenes, trailers and the like (both in-engine and CGI) for Bungie titles. This is cool because they get to work on them year-round as opposed to doing it all in the two weeks before E3. I'm expecting an increase in quality AND quantity.
Matt says elsewhere in the thread that the division will be concentrating on Oni until its release, so we shouldn't expect to see any new Halo stuff for the next few months.
Read the whole thread; there's a lot of info there.
The Marathon's Story Page informs us that Robert Mclees and Lorraine Reyes have become engaged. For those who don't know, Rob first rose to fame as a Marathon artist and author of the Nar Chronicles; Lorraine originally worked in Bungie's now-defunct marketing department but has stayed on post-buyout in a development capacity.
Congratulations to you both. See, you nobly sacrifice yourself with a grenade to keep a dozen Covenant soldiers from chasing your buddy, and the girls just swoon....
Additional details can be found on Lorraine's site.
Most of you who frequent RHL probably already know that it's down. I've just gotten the scoop from the SysAdmin - there was a power outage at the site. Unfortunately, Fractalus is out of town, exhibiting some of his artwork. The web server (on which R.net runs) returned to service very quickly, but the separate box which handles RHL and some other functions will be down until at least Tuesday evening. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone.
When it comes back up, RHL will be a primarily login-based server. The guest account will for the time being be able to still download but other priveleges will be somewhat curtailed. If you desire an account on RHL you simply have to send an E-mail to hotline@rampancy.net with your online handle, (your screen name) your desired login and your password.
Old skule Halo website junkies will remember Halam, one of the original half dozen sites to see serious work done on them. However, Mojo has decided to lay that site to rest for good, but has started something new in it's place:
Just wanted to let you guys know that I have started up a new site entitled Bungie Jumping that will be entirely Bungie related comics. It can be found here: mojo.fortunecity.com/halo (a forwarding site) or here: bungie.hypermart.net (the actual site)
Plenty of things in the community to poke fun at--just remains to be seen if there's enough hours in the day to get those comics drawn. ;)
As seen on the Oni Central forum:
Pico posted an email he'd sent to Gathering of Developers with some questions on Oni's publishing and marketing, along with a response from GOD's Robert Westmoreland. Among other things, the response affirms that GOD plans to release Oni in October (which again suggests simultaneous release with the PS2).
Read the post for yourself.
Bob1 was kind enough to point out in a post on our very own forum that there needn't be any interpretation or guesswork regarding what platforms Halo will be developed for, because while Alex Seropian may have specifically mentioned only the Mac at MacWorld this past Wednesday, this Microsoft press release mentioned at Halo.bungie.org mentions all three platforms by name.
You may now resume your regularly scheduled browsing.
Following Alex Seropian's reaffirmation of Halo for the Mac during Steve Jobs' MacWorld keynote last Wednesday, InsideMacGames scored a short video interview. In the video, Bungie Studios president Seropian commented on the decision.
The link doesn't appear to be working just yet, but we assume it will be shortly. Thanks to CyberBob on the Rampancy hotline server who pointed this out.
