If you like Myth III websites, then check out The Myrgard Times. It currently has some editorials and up-to-date news.
MacCentral got their hands on Myth II: Green Berets and wrote a brief overview of the game.
Billed as a squad-level tactical strategy game, the title puts players in the jungles of Southeast Asia. Green Berets features ten different missions with varying goals like rescuing POWs, sabotaging enemy communications, and destroying supply dumps. Players control squads comprised of gunners, medics, grenade launchers, helicopters and more -- a total of more than 18 units.
There's slightly more general information available in the overview.
Have you noticed an unusual little guy on your favorite Hotline server by the name of Game Tracker Bot? MuffinHead, the author of the bot, has written a website to brief those of you who are unfamiliar with its purpose or how it functions. Basically, you can find out what games people are playing and the information for joining by sending the bot the message list . You can also add a game of your own, including general game notes and the IP address people can use to connect to it. There's a lot more information in the FAQ. Hopefully everyone will utilize the Game Tracker Bot, as it can greatly strengthen what we can do within the Hotline client.
Don't believe me? You can thank Mojo for alerting us with this information:
From 5-9PM, on these 3 upcoming Wednesdays: Aug. 15, 22, and 29th, Bungie will have 16 slots available on a first-email, first-served basis. Calmly send an email to THIS address and list the days you'd like to play. If certain dates are an absolute impossibility, please list them as well. The folks at Bungie will do their best to accommodate everyone who applies, but obviously, they can only take so many people, so don't get your hopes up too much! Like all Official Gatherings, pizza and beverages will be served.

It's been a week since the last news update over here, but something went FUBAR on the server and I couldn't write any updates. That's fixed now. We've got some catching up to do:
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Along with the announcement of Myth II: Green Berets shipping, Take 2 sent us two new screenshots.

Magma, dedicated to porting Myth II maps to Myth TFL, has released yet another plugin. This time, Proving Grounds:
As if master-minding and executing TFL's largest, non-Bnet tournament wasn't enough, Project Magma has completed their port of MythII: Soulblighter's Proving Grounds map to TFL.DeadMan of the TFL clan 'Mything In Action' took the helm of Project Magma's flattest plugin to-date, containing several models, all Project Magma super-script units (Myrkridian Giants, Myrkridia, Warlocks) and a variety of unit mixes to complement the original Proving Grounds and Killing Grounds armies.
Proving Grounds (and all its variants) is able to be downloaded at the new Project Magma web site, projectmagma.net/creations.shtml. All Magma maps are hosted through the kind generosity of the Myth Village webmasters at mythvillage.org.
DeadMan is one of TFL's more prolific cartographers with several plugins under his belt including The Vessel and Valley of Ruin. DeadMan is poised to release 'Vivid' within a week, to complete his hat-trick of plugins wih a 'V' in the title.
In addition, the special RoTFL2 tournament map InCarn8 is available from the Project Magma website, and over the last week has seen some heavy demand, not only due to its tourney requirement, but for its very small filesize.
Project Magma has so far produced 13 plugins for TFL, including the 32-map plugin 'µnity3' and 4 beefed-up TFL co-ops for team training called 'The Alliance Collection'. All plugins contain MythII units adapted for TFL play.
The team is known for doing faithful ports, so if you're a fan of Proving Grounds and TFL, you are in luck. Also, check out some of their other ports while you're there.
This week's update is at HBO:
- Having introduced the AIs to the concept of driving, Chris Butcher is now teaching them how to drive different kinds of vehicles.- The Bear fixed a major physics issue and in the process made all our vehicles drive better and with a more realistic feel. After doing this he was able to pull out the various hacks we'd inserted to make theindividual vehicles handle the way we thought they should. Better Gaming Through Physics.
- Hardy is engaged in major multiplayer balancing: deciding the weapon spawn times, power-up placement, the weapons you start with, startingpositions and so forth, level by level. This involves a lot of playtesting so it's not all sackcloth and ashes.
