'highway access denied' or something, presumably you have to pay or something, and the blast doors close automatically
also dont forget the covenant have very advanced technology - they may have better heat resistant materials

I have a possible explanation to your first question:
If you read The Fall of Reach you will remember that we can detect Covenant Battlegroups moving through Shaw-Fugikawa slipstream (slipspace. So We may have evacuated the entire planet. Its not as crazy as it sounds (they tried to evacuate Sigma Octanus IV,but were too late,Same thing with the military base called Reach).
The reason the marines on the dropship had the cool helmets may be because they're HellJumpers and get to have special equipment because they have rougher duties than the regular enlisted marine.A Dangerous job has it's privelileges.
In The Fall of Reach you may remember the first mission of the newly formed Spartan soldiers was to capture the Comander of the outpost or base stationed on or rather inside an asteroid. What role will the Rebels have to play in the Human\Covenant War? If master chief,John or #117 whatever you choose to call him was to fail would these outposts be the only Human inhabited Areas in the Universe. And if so the Covenant would not know about them, Therefore Humans in fact would survive and possibly later on 100 years or so pose a guerrilla like war on the Covenant. A great story I think.
In reply to: ya, about that video (along w/ others)
9 min. movie is .wmv format so it only works with media player. also, i wanted to ask if anyone has seen a halo skin for windows media or windowsblinds?

The rebels would have been wiped out. The Covenant cleaned out every solar system were humans were found. They would have most likely spotted these rebels within the asteroids and just destroyed the asteroid itself. No survivors...
I don't even think the Covenant went from system to system wiping out the humans, they just hope that by taking out their most populated world, Earth, human morale would be low and people would fear that if their homeworld fell, so would theirs. That's probably why the Covenant are landing on Earth instead of glassing it (heating the surface to the point where nothing would survive), so than can determine the location of every human planet, outpost, and ship that exists.
Lets not forget why the Covenant started this war in the first place,Because they believe that Humans are religiously, moral, and geneticaly disgusting. The Covenant feel that they are an interstellar exterminator spraying the galaxy to rid it of,as they see it, the human pest. They are on a Covenant "Jihad" so to speak.
They would destroy Earth and its inhabitants not for territory but for satisfaction. That is why they land on Earth rather than Glassing it. I mean come on we've been at war for almost thirty years now. I would think they feel they are intitled to Destroy the Capital of their Enemy.
The covenant would not have wiped out the rebels, mainly because the rebels are totaly severed from the rest of the UNSC. I'm sure, but i could be wrong after all we are trying to get inside of the minds of a fictional collection of Alien races, that the Covenant would not have expected the Humans to have had a civil war, there may not be such a thing in Covenant Society, Maybe the Covenant have a bond racialy( once an Elite always an Elite) and so that there would be no dissagreement (other than political) against the major social hierarchy. Also think about this: Every world that the Covenant have encountered Humans they have been planets not necessarily Solar systems not Asteroids so once again the Covenant would not anticipate such a location for Humans to inhabit.
Maybe the role of the rebels in TFoR was something more deep. I mean, this IS Bungie after all: Everything's connected! Why would they talk about a mission where the MC had to capture a senior rebel officer in TFoR if it wasn't important to the whole storyline. Maybe there was something that the rebel officer knew that ONI wanted to find out. Those are my 2 cents..
I think if the Covenant had boarded a vessel and looked into the data base, they would have seen that there were rebels sealed up in asteroids somewhere, and they would have even found out the relative location. Also, had the war even started yet?
The Human/Covenant war had not started yet. This is around 2530 I think. The Human/Covenant war began a few years later. But anyway the Covenant would not have learned anything about the Rebels because of The Cole Protocol (the only reason The Marines are on Halo!!). The protocol states (as Capt. Keyes quoted in the beginning)that "Capture of a ships AI (or data in this case) is unacceptable" (and actually punoshable by death) that is why Cortana has *All* of the ship data and history with her (she trashed all of it on the ship to keep the covenant from getting it). So the Covenant would not be able to get the data from this source or any other for that matter (interogation of people would be useless since most of the marines and Navy personel weren't even born then!! Remember the Human/Covenant War has been going on for about 30 years and the Marines and Navy personel are no older than 25 except the handfull of Senior officers. No one would know anything about the Rebels except for what they learned in school,Except for Capt. Keyes and a handfull of senior officers on the ship.
The Rebels are probably written down in human history somewhere. And Guilty Spark learned about human history on the PoA (which the Covenant also happened to be on). Besides I don't think that the UNSC knew where many of the rebel bases were. If I were a rebel and the war had started I would have stayed quiet. I think there is a pretty good chance of the rebels surviving.
I think the covenant would have known a rebelion started, because in tfor I dont remember in which part some oni spook mentioned they have learned their language and had been watching them closley for a some time, so they would have known there was a rebelion, and therfore search their bases
Also though the reason the Spartans were created was to control the rebells so it should say somwhere in history that there was a big rebellion. But also if the covie didnt find out about the rebells and they didn't kill them, the rebells wounld have no one on any other planet to supply them with food or water. So eventually they would probly die.
i hope that, in Halo 2, there are more then one Spartan soilder, like, a couple that made it off on other ships like the PoA? some thing like that....and, any ideawhat kind of high explosives that the MC can use???
Not meaning to have a go at u but he is the only remaining spartan. If u had tread the fall of reach it tells u this. The rest have died somehow (all in different ways) but the book did say there was a start of a new program i think but these spartans will in no way be combat ready. They would be in the early stages but they may have started and be out there fighting. In the trailer video the soldier said when i ordered back-up i never thought they'd send a spartan. This may imply that there is still more than one and that he is not the only surviver but the others may just be the new recruits. So when typing this ive been thinking and u might be right but it is none of the original spartans.
In the fall of reach it said that there were shelters that could withstand the glassing of the planet. Maybe after the spartans failed to keep the ground forces from destroying the power source for the orbital guns they got in the shelters and survived under reach's surface.
In the book the Fall of Reach it said and I quote " Assembled here tonight are all surviving Spartans save three, who are otherwise engaged on fields of battle to distant to be easily recalled." page 240 paragraph 5. Dr. Halsey said that, so it means that all of the spartans probly died on Reach except for John-Spartan117 "Master Chief" and the three others who could not make it to the battle on Reach. So in total there are 4 spartans still alive. Meaning that there might 3 other spartans in HALO 2
I know this is sort of off the subjest but- has anyone here beaten the new game "X2, Wolverine's Revenge" yet? Cause I'm so stumped that it's not even funny.
