Just speculation, but rumors are beginning to filter through the forums and email that another new press demo movie can be found on a new issue of the german magazine PC Game (or is that PC Gamer?). In the letter detailed in the post above, CyberBob makes note of a 4 minute Halo movie on the January 2000 issue of PC Gamer... Same one? Oh, what a tangled web...
Keep your eyes open for new Halo coverage in the batch of January 2000 issues, and if you find something, don't hesitate to let me know!
A number of very interesting news items at Marathon's Story today, ranging from Cortana references in Oni kanji to the nature (and release date) of the mysterious #2. Definitely worth stopping by and checking out.
Our congratulations to former-Bungian Nathan Bitner, who announced an impending wedding (among other things) in halo.bungie.org's forum. Best wishes to the new couple, and enjoy your freedom while you can Nathan. ;)
Kudos to SpacemanSpiff for exposing this dramatic revelation in Halo's ongoing development: according to this transcript there not only exists a playable demo of Halo already, but it's spread beyond Bungie!
Ye gods!!
Well, this concludes our evening broadcast. Be listening again tomorrow when we announce Halo 2: Soulbringer, and provide release dates for all future Bungie releases.
Kudos again to CyberBob, who has translated and posted a transcript from the Oni half of the PC Action film (having previously translated the Halo section). While nothing ground breaking is revealed, it's certainly a worthwhile read for anyone keeping an eye on Oni.
This week's question comes from a few off topic posts in the forum about melee combat in Halo: should complex melee combat, which would include things like blocking and various melee strikes, play a major role in Halo? Or would such things detract from netplay and just not add too much fun to the game?
Another interesting puzzle on Marathon's Story this weekend: what does SPMLOAS stand for? If you're scratching your head, Bungie has a history of putting these acronymns in their product UPC codes, and this newest one comes from the just released Total Codex. It won't be long before someone cracks it, I'm sure... if you're versed in Bungie lore and sayings, perhaps try your head at it.
Some good results this week, fairly even and not quite as lopsided as past weeks. When asked if Halo should contain male and female models (as opposed to using a single human model and avoiding sexism altogether), around 250 voters had this to say:
Good news for North American Halo junkies. Charles of Inside Mac Games passed along a few comments made by Bungie's Doug Zartman confirming the previously rumored Halo movie on an upcoming IncitePC magazine CD:
