News of the Mac Halo Gold Master spread everywhere over the past few days; it seems the disc went to duplication on the 5th and is expected to hit store shelves on or near the projected target date of December 11; news broke at HBO, Subnova, Bungie.net,
An Anonymous User popped into our forum to remind everybody that the iGames Regionals for Halo for Windows are coming up on December 7. (Hey, register for an account so we can thank you properly.) Full details in the forum post.
Marc "Cysco" Tardif of Gearbox has posted a detailed description of changes in the forthcoming 1.03 patch for PC Halo, due out on Monday December 8. Included will be anti-teamkilling features, such as increasing respawn times for teamkillers, removed respawn penalty for teamkiller victims, persistent teams, and network play enhancements.
Usually when we make a mistake at Rampancy and attribute an HBO news item to Louis Wu when it wasn't really him, it's because Count Zero has surprised us by coming out of hiding and posting some news. Well, now he can't hide anymore, because Mhaddy and the team at the Junkyard have put a spotlight on him.
GameSpot has one of those poll thingies that asks which 2004 release you're most looking forward to. In honor of that, all the game titles have been converted into their leetspeak equivalents; how cute.More to the point, Halo 2... err, that is, H4L0 2, currently leads the pack with 28% of the vote, perhaps because it's the most legible entry, but if any Bungie fans are at all worried, you might as well go put in your two cents. Thanks Louis Wu at HBO.
We've put up a mirror of the lo-res QuickTime version of the Making Of Halo 2 video in our Halo 2 Movies page of our Movies section. It's also available from RHL.
Okay, this is official this time, not a few backroom stockboys itchin' to put the new stuff out front before they're supposed to-- Eric Nylund's new Halo novelization, Halo: First Strike, has been released.
David "Alpha Male" Mertz, lead designer for PC Halo at Gearbox Software, resigned on Dec 1 after completing the Halo Editing Kit tutorial. No news on how this impacts the release of the Editing Kit. Thanks Louis Wu.
An outfit called Film Oasis put together a documentary on the making of Halo 2; it was in the bonus DVD/controller package that went on sale last month, but now it's available online in two sizes. As usual HBO has a mirror page. Thanks again Louis Wu at HBO and SketchFactor at Bungie.net.
