I thought it would. M3 uses OpenGL and I thought V-2 was OpenGL compliant with the 3Dfx extension set. Now if M3 used multiple windows, then a V-3 would be necessary (although V-3 drivers for the Mac contain generate fifo errors when drawing to multiple windows).
Note that if you have a MicroConversions Game Wizard V-2, you'll need to install the 3Dfx drivers, minus GlideLib2.x (use the Game Wizard Glide 2 extension) to get OpenGL support. Oh, and rip out all the Mesa drivers (heh). Not many people bought $300 8Mb Game Wizards when 12Mb PC-version V-2 cards were less than $50 retail.
Not to get into Mac vs PC smurf, but that was just hella-stupid.
As long as you're not running OSX, you should be fine with any old Voodoo card. Otherwise, look into an old Rage 128 card (IMO, a G3/266 coupled with a Radeon is a waste...of the Radeon).

I bought Myth 3 and I tried playing it on my computer with a

No. "Rage" is the series of cards ATI made before Radeon. They progress through Rage, Rage II, Rage II plus, Rage IIc, and Rage 128.

The Rage 128's minimal video memory is probably a bigger factor; but I may be wrong on that count.

In reply to: Re: Anyone wanna play TCP/IP with me?
I can't for the life of me see why one would want to use GameSpy, except as a time & money saver.... Drop their material into your game, interface with it, and viola! Instant multiplayer.
However, I'm a big fan of options, and of developers which provide those options well. This is, sadly, consistent with the judgement of whomever decided to handle other aspects of Myth III... according to the reviews I've read so far. The game needed more dev-time, better testing, more polish and perhaps just a little bit of assistance from above. Instead, it seems that Take Two laid the pressure on, heavily, and couldn't wait to kick the team out the door.
Makes me kinda glad that Bungie is no longer beholden to Take Two... they are actually in a much superior position, believe it or not, with Microsoft. All things being relative.
The Nest and Siege of Llancarfan. The funny thing is, if you beat Siege it plays the epilogue to the game. Not sure if that's intended, but it's not the whole ending anyway just the bit that alludes to the TFL storyline. No coops are possible.
The demo looked ugly compared to the actual game to me, but I didn't bother to change any display options so that probably explains it. It'll be up at CPHL in a bit for anyone who wants it, I have to say it's probably a better example of the game than the Multi demo. Also, FYI, the version was 1.02 from (IIRC) Nov. 12th.
haha, I just registered myth4.com with namezero for free so that when myth 4 comes out now one can get the domain hahahahhah I jus had to do that for a laugh
: haha, I just registered myth4.com with namezero for free
: so that when myth 4 comes out now one can get the domain
: hahahahhah I jus had to do that for a laugh
Heh, well myth3.com turned out to be more useful than I expected it to be 12-18 months ago... but then, now it is returning to not be quite as valuable.
Figured I'd give a short status report, name some meshes, (save people the effort of porting maps already done/in progress).
At least half of the maps are in final testing now, and I must say that the Myth III engine really makes these beautiful. Never realized that 240 color maps could have been acceptable. After seeing these classics in-engine, you'll certainly agree.
Confirmed Meshes
I'll Dance on Your Grave
I'll Dance on Your Spiderweb
Desert Between Your Ears (TFL)
If I Had a Trow... (TFL)
Mudpit Massacre (light)
Mudpit Massacre (dark)
Gimble on the Wabe
Gyre on the Wabe
Drowned Kingdom
Drowned Empire
Probably included...
Desert Between Your Ears (Myth II mesh)
If I Had a Trow... (Myth II mesh)
Potentially included
2 unnamed maps (4 meshes)
2 TFL maps
Never to be ported by the myth III team or Vista
Giant Fighting Grounds Titanium, Gold, Silver, or even Tin
If I had a clue...
Raid (period, end of sentence)
16 inches and accumulating... (yeah, i know that one will be missed)
So, as you can see, we've been busy little beavers. Our plan is currently to have these done in time for the 1.1 Patch or the Mac release. They'll be done when they're done (of course), but based on the progress, I'd have to say that this "ain't no jinnkatana". We're on track for meeting our deadlines, and look forward to greeting Mac users with a whole lot of lovin.
We'll probably leak a few shots of our progress soon, and again to repeat... We will NOT be porting RAID. Have a nice day.

The .sig is imported into the content text input area, not appended to the post after you submit.

try putting the level number(or whatever is a good way of braking up the game into sections) in the subject, that way people know that if they haven't gotten that far, to not read :-)
yes I know you're all smart and have thought of this, I'm just stating the obvious blah blah blah.
but humor me :-)

got a better idea share it, too many levels for separate forums. oh well, no big deal :-)

In reply to: Tech Specs on Myth III for Mac? [NT] [NT]You're probably going to need a 400 MHz G3 processor, 200+ MB RAM, and a good video card.

Anyone wanna play TCP/IP with me?
or rather, since I'm on 56k, it would be more fitting for someone else to host. If yes we'll talk more...

There is no TCP/IP option for Myth3... you have to play on gamespy or on your LAN.

Daggummit! ;-P
In reply to: Re: Anyone wanna play TCP/IP with me?I meant TCP/IP on M2. Seeing as how I'm locked till I get M3, I am in M2 withdrawl.

No TCP/IP option = frustration ( Rant on Take-Two)
In reply to: Re: Anyone wanna play TCP/IP with me?I can't for the life of me see why one would want to use GameSpy, except as a time & money saver....

It's got
In reply to: Myth III Solo DemoThe Nest and Siege of Llancarfan.
12th.

In reply to: lolHeh, well myth3.com turned out to be more useful than I expected it to be 12-18 months ago... but then, now it is returning to not be quite as valuable.

Classic Map Pack

In reply to: Oh, Narc... [NT] [NT]I just tested it myself-- when previewing or posting with an unmodified name line, you get an error from the system and no message is posted.
If you add a space on the end... it works.
So why this one was posted, I'm not sure.

Another Question
In reply to: he added a space mbHow come your signature shows up when you write posts? Mine used to, but it doesn't any more. If I want to add my signature, I have to go to my account settings and copy and paste it. Is this what you are doing?

No, my .sig is automatic...
Are you deleting everything in the comment text box, though?
The .sig is imported into the content text input area, not appended to the post after you submit.
We could make it work that way, though.
