This is fixed now.

Basically, the line that appended the .sig file to the post was *inside* an if/then statement that handled replies, so it wasn't executed on newly created threads.

The reason why the above post isn't [nt] tagged is not my fault, as yet another problem with forum signatures has surfaced.

If you preview a post before you post it, it is entirely removed from the comment box except for your signature. Sure, it previews fine, but you have to copy and paste the text into the comment box, which is not only annoying, but you have to add links and other HTML items all over again.

Yes... just found and fixed this. A similar problem as before-- I modified the preview and comment form routines to support some of the new features, and in the process I left the possibility that when previewing a post, the form is rendered with the $comment variable null, so the body got stripped, leaving only the signature.

This is fixed now.

hmmm... why no badlands/untamedlands?

In reply to: Re: Classic Map Pack

Due to limited time restraints from both iggy and I, we can't port every map known to man. That plus, there are some solid maps we wanted to leave up to their makers (badlands is alive, afterall). All in all, it came down to the ancient equation where you can never have enough time...

I'm sure you'll be happy with some of the surprise inclusions.

Of course. Plug-ins don't care what system you're using..why would this change for M3?

People are anxiously anticipating the Myth III 1.1 patch and are being quite vocal about it in other forums. Isn't this the exact same thing that happened with Myth TFL and Myth II? Man, I remember waiting for months to get the 1.3 patches for both games and when they finally arrived, it was like Christmas. It's funny to see the series's traditions continue in another fashion.

So far because of the poor everything in multi myth 3 I have lost almost all interest in myth3. I keep checking for a patch, but until that patch is out I will not bother playing the game. And I am sure a lot others feel the same way.

Back in early '98 and 2k Bungie was a company with a track record for servicing its games after release, and a company that didn't show any signs of dissolving. This year Mac users don't even have access to a demo, let alone the game, and there is no guarentee that a patch will ever be released because the developers are gone. Yes there were many bugs to be fixed in the other games. But we knew they would be, and nearly all were. No such situation exists this time around.

Not quite :) The man who released it was the man whose map it was... Ferrex the Dead :) I was talking to him about Gothic when i was selecting the map pack meshes, and we talked about his original mesh, what he'd changed, and what approaches he'd love to see done. Hence Gothic is the name of that lovely night mesh endorsed by the original creator. I didn't use his released version, I started straight from the beta CD mesh/colormap.

Why do a lot of the Myth III maps have 'scratched-up' ground? On the original Winter map the snow lies deep and crisp and even. Here it looks like the world freestyle snowboard championships have spent the week in residence.

It's even weirder when it makes the grass look just like a pool table (eg Mudpit.)

This is only a tiny criticism, completely and totally outweighed by the excellence of the work that has been done on these maps.

So i tried clean the HD again installed 9.1 same thing happens then i clean it once again installs 9.1 and update to 9.2.1 same thing happens.. What could the reason for this being? It never happend to me before i started with os x.. (note: i dont use os x now)
the only new hardware and driver i think of...is that i now use a logitech mouse and have installed their drivers...this should not matter...(?)

Would you care for a movie, Mr Phelps? Perhaps something from the cinema of the Ukraine? ;-)

OK. This happened to me while playing M2:Chimera. Turned out the app wanted more memory (before OS X, memory given to app is kinda static).

So...

Select the Myth II app symbol, press cmd-I to open the information panel, select Memory from the choice list, triple the min and max mem of the app, close the info panel. Start the game again to see if it worked.

Other things to try are to switch virtual memory on/off (some games want it, other don't), or making sure you're running the default extension set (but you should already be doing that, since you just did a re-install of the OS).

Good luck, Jim. :)

I upgraded to Windows XP Professional. Recently tried out myth 2 (installed it after installing winXP) got the patch got all updates for video card etc. etc. Other games have worked fine under XP. Myth opens fine and loads maps fine, but in the game the cursor is flashing constantly and commands are delayed and repeated (try to mvoe the camera forward by tapping "w" and 5 seconds later camera moves forward all the way across the map). Anyone know bout Myth 2 and WinXP?

Although I haven't run out of ideas for netmaps just yet :-), I just thought I would post this, because I would be interested to hear about suggestions for multiplayer maps from the community.

So, tell me - have you had an idea for a dream map that you never got round to making for Myth 2? Or perhaps playing Myth 3 has inspired you?

Either post a reply to this thread, or else send email to phish@aelius.com. If you don't want anyone to know about your idea, then email me, and I won't tell anyone about it unless I definitely include it in my map. In this case I will ask your permission first as well.

Anything, from the basic shape of the central hill to a complete concept for a total conversion is welcome. Although I'm obviously extremely unlikely to create this conversion, I always like to see some fresh inspiration.

Hopefully I will be able to collect some really neat ideas, and compile them all into one map.

Thanks!

In reply to: Myth 3 Map Ideas?

What I would like to see is a 5 team map. With the teams made up as follows:
1) Warriors and Archers
2) Dwarves, Dwarven Axe-Warriors, Dwarven Smiths
3) Berserks, Hearthsguard
4) Ghol, Ghol Brute, Ghol Shaman
5) Thrall, Soulless, Wight

You can see where I'm going with this.

Problems I can see is balancing the teams, but that would can be done by allowing different point max for each team perhaps. Also it could be cool that each starting point would somewhat reflect the playing style of each team and play in favour of the team(sort of a home base). Example:
1) Could have some high hill/wall to put archers on.
2) Dwarf gate(for cosmetical purposes), a longish ramp leading up to the gate.
3) maybe something like the first single player map, free space to run berserks.
4) a cave(cosmetical), maybe some dead dwarves lying around(with satchels), and some blown up wights(like in that mission from TFL where the ghols kept wights inside fences), terrain could be smaller hills accessible only to ghols(and soulless/spiders of course).
5) in middle of map, a marchland with places to hide thrall and wights and for soulless to hover over without being reachable by melee.

Sure it could be hard to balance it all out. And some teams would definetl be better at some gametypes than others.

Well thats just my m3 map dream.

Stinger's picture

In reply to: Myth 3 Map Ideas?

...has kinda put a damper on any creative thoughts I might have had in that direction. After complaints about the PC version it's hard to say if it's better or worse to be using a mac in this instance... time will tell. ;-)

However, my hope in Myth 3 was for some more advanced multiplayer scripting. Lacking an editor or the game... I've no idea if any improvements were made. Hell, all's I've heard is that most scripting is done in Loathing, which doesn't bode well. BUT! Have I the chance, or if someone else takes up the idea, I'd love to see something of a multiplayer version of the baron's keep or white falls for myth 2. Basically you'd have a few teams that are actual players, and one team that is controlled by the AI/scripts. At the center of the map is a keep/fort/castle sort of deal that the AI team is guarding. In the center of the keep is a goal... it could be set up as stampede (with all units as targets), lmoth, or KoTH flag. The object for the players is to fight their way past opponent teams and the AI team to reach the flag.

Alternatively the center team could be controlled by players, but you'd have to do a lot of play balance. And you'd still need to figure out scripting so that the center team has a way to "win" without it being amazingly easy.

At any rate, would be a change of pace. I tried scripting anti-caps once too, but once I figured out you couldn't test it solo I lost interest. ;-)

Sorry for the delay in posting but as with all things time is the only true enemy. Anyways I am always game for new maps and ideas so if you just want to talk over a few things then feel free to email me at PimpyRules@aol.com. I helped to design a bunch of stuff for Jinn and I even did some stuff for Creation and Hexographica way back in the day so my experience is a'plenty.

Anyways just let me konw what you are trying to do with some new maps or even if you need an entire idea. I can normally help enough to get you over the mapping mind block that most tend to find. Hope to hear from you soon.

I had these problems on a G4 733mhz with a Geforce2MX…

First of all, the gamma in M3 is WAY too dark, and the in-game brightness switch makes no difference at all, nor do my colorsync settings in mac os9…
This makes the game unplayable for me…

My second HUGE(:) problem, is that M3 doesn't support AZERTY keyboards, I had the same problem with M1 and M2, and basically it cripples my ability to communicate in-game, or login to gamespy because my @ key isn't even recognized…

Besides all this I really enjoyed the short time I spent with this game, it has very high production values, awesome interface, graphics, animations and sounds, and it all ran smoothly…

Ok. MIII only allows the use of the US Keyboard layout, so the @ key is shift+"the third key in the row below the function keys" - also known as "2."

IMHO, the guy who made the interface should be quatered, burned and shot. But that is a matter of taste I think
