Well, maybe Stuntmutt will have to modify one of his new characters in One One Se7en, as it appears that Mac Halo doesn't suffer from the same performance bottlenecks that PC Halo does-- at least not according to Corey Tamas of Macgamer, who rated Mac Halo 99 out of a 100.
The bad news? Tamas drops a note that "Alas, Mac Halo lacks the Xbox's cooperative mode and no plans exist to add it in the future." Actually, last we'd read coop was still a questionmark for a future patch for the PC version, which would then open up the question of putting in the Mac version, but perhaps that's already gone by the boards.
Thanks Louis Wu of HBO.

concerning this article...
ok, sounds good and all, but what about this quote?
"You can also depend on your trusty pistol, which lacks in power but can zoom in on a target to provide a nice, clean shot."
i'm a bit worried about the "lacks in power" part of that statement...

Subjectivity and auto-aim
In reply to: concerning this article...I'm pretty sure that's just Tamas' subjective comment on the pistol vs. other weapons in Halo, and not a comment on the Mac version per se.
A lot of people felt that the pistol had been nerfed in PC Halo-- the Gearbox guys replied it wasn't so, that the only difference is the lack of auto-aim-- which is true of all weapons in Halo that use it on the Xbox.
You can even test this with Xbox Halo if you have it-- the auto-aim works when using the pistol on enemy targets, but not on team members.
If Corey thinks the pistol in the Mac version "lacks power" compared to the pistol in the Xbox version, it's just because-- despite the mouse interface-- you're bound to be a little bit less accurate
