Did anyone notice Cortana say the phrase "this is the way the world ends" in the trailer? To me, it kinda sounds like a reference to the Cortana letters, in which she says the exact same thing...

They're both quoting the last stanza of the T.S. Eliot poem "The Hollow Men" which ends like this:
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but with a whimper
However, the Cortana Letters specifically referred to the poem, and the line was to refute Eliot: by saying that he was wrong, that THIS is how the world ends.
Cortana's line in the new trailer isn't quite as obvious in its refutation of Eliot's whimper, but I think it is implied there.
*gasp* would they... they dont have the bawls to do it... is it possible that they might introduce the AIs from the letters some way? random idea, Gravemind=Flood+AI
To me, it sounds as if to refute T.S.Eliot. So instead of a whimper, the world will end with a bang. If you look at the Cortana letters, the first one in particular which I agree is a stronger reference, you have a feeling of this is not the world ending, because your actions determine this yet. Everyone is hung up on a specific way the world will end when indeed it could be intrepted as this is the begining of the end OR this is it, it's do or die time, or your actions will determine how the world ends, or more bluntly, how this story ends. This would also make more sense for an annoucement trailer, don't you think? But this goes deeper in my opinion.
I find it curious that the reference to "your future" shows up in the first Cortana Letter, which I would say, provides another strong reference tye from the trailer to the Cortana Letters. Now, with references to letter number one in particular, doesn't it seem eerie that the MC is looking over a huge crater, a huge void, or huge "abyss?" In the Letter the word abyss is capitalized signifying importance or significance. The reference, as anyone could tell you, is to the bible in Revelations. as the place where Satan is supposedly chaine:
1. And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.
2. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.
3. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
The question remains, what is symbolic of satan in the Halo storyline? The awesome power the Ark possesses (if it is the Ark), a massive "god" type flood form (in this case, demonic), or Forerunners themselves? I mind you the definition of Ark is santuary or, a place of refuge. Could the Forerunners have imprisoned themselves in the Ark as refuge from the flood? Sounds like a familiar biblical story to me. The second and third letters of Cortana (I think) seem to offer a clue that the "giants that formed this world must be in chains as the only explaination they are not existant today." Again, a reference to chains, that are also found in the Revelations text? I have, what seem to me, to be more reference connections, (just search the definition of Fortress World which Cortana uses in Halo2 to describe the Halo ring for a possible backstory to the Forerunners.) but this is suffice for now. I do believe that Bungie had a storyline established, however loosely, before the installment of HaloCE. I could be wrong, or off my lid, but it all seems too coincidental to me. I hope someone other than me, finds this riveting.
(failing to find a link to Fortress World- here it is - you'll find that Earth (particularly America) is actually a fortress world. The definition goes: a world where the rich and poor are extremely segrated and constantly at war. The world is overcrowded, filled with Disease and lacking in the food and natural resources to feed it's ever growing population. (A possible backstory to forerunner and creation of flood?)
