Warthog Jump Movie Downloads Hit 17K
This is just to note that downloads of the now infamous Warthog Jump movie from Rampancy.net have just passed 17,000. And not to worry, we won't be pulling this mirror for any reason as long as there is demand.

This is just a short note to apologize for the rather prolonged period of inactivity here at Rampancy.net. With Acrappa away handling family matters, and myself on a three-week vacation and now just starting at a new job, time and manpower to pull the reins of the of the site back into control just hasn't materialized just yet.
With an eye to figuring out how to do that, now that Myth 3 and Halo have both shipped (in one form or another) I've updated the poll to ask our readers just exactly what Rampancy should focus on next. So give us a yell, let us know which which way the wind is blowing!
cybio signed up on Rampancy.net on December 6th, becoming the 200th registered user since the new site opened in mid-October. Since then, Rampancy has been visited 38,210 times and served 55,849 pages.
We at Rampancy.net welcome cybio and look forward to our next two hundred users.
We have decided to mirror the two official PRASP maps and Leadfeather's new one here on the Rampancy server.
For the record, these are all .tag files compressed with .zip, so Mac users should be able to download the files and use them when Myth III is finally released.
A few minor changes/enhancements yesterday.
First off, for registered users, the forums now report the number of new posts since the last time you viewed each forum index. It doesn't count views of the main page, or of individual comments, just the bare indices.
This change takes effect on the forum indexes themselves, above each comment display, and in the recent threads boxes (where the number of new and total posts are now reported like this: (new/total).
RampancyHL has returned!
We've put up a backup for the Rampancy Hotline server at hotline://rampancy.net. We don't have any of the old files there yet, nor the accounts, but the server is running.
With the Xbox's launch and Halo's release now upon us, we know there'll be some sharp divisions on the site, especially between those who will be playing Halo on an Xbox these coming weeks, those who won't be able to get their hands on one for awhile, and those who are waiting for the PC and Macintosh versions.
To that end, we've added a special spoiler forum to the site. The recent posts on this forum will NOT be displayed on the front page (so as not to tempt those trying to wait, or inadvertently display a spoiler in a subject line).
We've added a Halo Reviews page to the site, including all the known reviews of Halo since press started getting complete or nearly complete copies of the game.
Zinfandel and rolf have been kind enough to submit reports to the Myth III User Reports area (especially rolf). In addition, Bullseye, who started the Buglist thread over at MythVillage, was kind enough to allow us to adopt and continue to maintain the list as part of this section now that he has stopped adding to it.
Rampancy has opened a new area in our Information section for user-submitted reports on Myth III. They will be broken down into seven different areas: Interface, Gameplay/Balance, Maps, Units, Performance/Stability, Graphics/Sounds, and GameSpy/Netplay.
To submit a report, you can use the submit link in the menubar and choose book , or just click this direct link. Then choose one of the seven areas listed under Myth III User Reports in the pulldown menu for Parent , an appropriate category (in this case, myth ), and the platform you're playing Myth III on. Write your report in the space labeled Content , preview it and then submit. Rampancy editors will review the submissions and publish them for everyone on the site to see. If you think there's a whole category of reports that we've left out, give your new category a name, choose Myth III User Reports as the Parent, and write a description of the category in the space for Content.
This will be our first time we're trying user participation in this portion of the site, so there are bound to be a few bumps along the way, we hope everyone will bear with us.
Well, not so much as a return as a change of address. Our regular domain name, rampancy.net, now points at the new server. Everyone appreciates our readers' patience during this rather impromptu beta test; but at the very least it made sure we got the site rebuild done before the Xbox launched, which otherwise might not have happened.
The old server is still down, meaning we're as yet unable to retrieve the old forum contents, but that is our next major task. Since we've been using the new system for almost a week now, we're going to make sure that those posts are preserved-- so despite what we said earlier, the current forums won't be deleted.
One last note-- we've updated the few hard links on the site that pointed to the beta address so that they now use the proper address. But if you login with one address and then hit a link for another, you may be logged out. This should only happen during the period while the DNS is transitioning.
