Most fans originally guessed that Halo 2 would be released in Q4 of 2003 in time for the holiday shopping season. However, Bungie announced early in 2003 that the game would not ship until 2004. Early in 2004, Bungie announced that the game would ship in the Fall of 2004. In May 2004, it was announced officially that Halo 2 would be released on November 9, 2004 in the US, later for other markets. There will be two versions of Halo 2, a regular and a collector's edition that will come with bonus material on DVD. Only preorders will get the limited-availability special edition, but it is not limited to the US.
