Apparently there a quite a few Bible references in Halo but I can only think of a handful. If anyone can think of any and could post them here it'd help me us a lot because we need them for something we're compiling about Halo's storyline. When it's finished it could be pretty good and put a whole new slant on the game. Many thanks if you can help.

Well, as Ive said on a different site, I went Bible flipping last night and found out a few strange things:

1. When the word Flood is searched in a dictionary, one response may say: and God made a COVENANT not to again destroy the world by FLOOD. See the connection? Well, then that got me thinking, what about the ark of the covenant? Well, think about it, ark, leading us back to the flood. It's like a ring...

2. Matthew (for Matt!) 7:7 states that if you ask you shall recieve, if you seek, you will find, and if you knock, the ddor will be opened to you. Hmmm...

3. Resin, as stated in the Soffish site, links directly to trees, which leak resin: amber/ tree sap, what resemble trees? Flood! Leading us to #1.

I've read on other sites of people that mention the book "fall of reach" does have many biblical links. Now one of the cooler points I read was you play the master chief but you do have a name given to you while in training as a child of John 117. (for those that haven't read the book do yourselves a favor and pick it up) "They" mentioned in the bible John 1:17/11:7 speaks of the coming of death. I personally couldn't find it but they go on to mention the covenant believe that humans are death coming to take them. On top of this, you "Master Chief" are the devil in their belief. Hence the reason why the grunts always yell at you "Die devil!" This sounds coolio but again I don't know if it holds any water with the people at bungie or the author Eric Nylund.

The book again is an excellent read by the way and does aid in the game experience a significant amount. Everyone I recomended it to (fans of sci-fi) loved it.

Well it has finally happened, Halo HAS been hacked.

It is now possible to not get injured, perform a super jump and EVEN PLAY AS AN ELITE AND DRIVE THE WRAITH!!!

How you ask? well first you need a modded Xbox and a little knowledge, pj325is on HBO first mentioned it here - http://carnage.bungie.org/haloforum/halo.forum.pl?read=190120
And about 12 hours later Dozi confirmed it and uploaded a movie showing some amazing things! Located here - http://halo.bungie.org/misc/hackinhalomirrors.html

I'm still two minds whether its a good thing or a bad thing!

But one thing is for certain; it will change the way we look at Halo... FOREVER!

Each and every soldier in Halo has some sort of weakness. It's a just a matter of finding them.

Elites-If you sneak up behind, hit them with your assualt rifle and their back cracks and they fall to the floor.

Grunts-Nothing really, just aim for the head when you can.

Jackals-Their shields can't protect them from energy weapons or you can use a sniper rifle or pistol and aim in the small indentation on the right of their shield. The bullet hits their hand and they die almost instantly. You can also shoot them with any other weapon on the right.

Hunters-No matter what weapon you have (except the rocket launcher), the Hunters seem almost invincible and they take forever to destroy. There is a yellow area on their back which is exposed. Any shot directed at their back will kill them right away.

Humans-You never really have to fight humans, but just incase you ever have to, aim for the head or use plasma grenades >:-)
Infected Elites and Marines-USE A SHOTGUN!!!!!

Carriers-Don't waste your shotgun ammo on these guys, just use ur assualt rifle or whatever weapon you have besides the shotgun.

Infection-Anything can kill these guys, but DO NOT use plasma grenades b/c they come right at you and the grenade expldoes killing you.

Sentinals-Charge up the plasma pistol and fire, the energy burst will home in on them and destroy them. Any energy weapon works and so does the shotgun.

Those are all of the soldiers in Halo than can be destroyed. When you're up against and vehicle, use a rocket launcher or grenades. If it's a Banshee, use anything and don't stop shooting!

Ryan's picture

In reply to: Weaknesses of Covenant, Flood and Humans

Good tips there, Samati! I'll add a few extra ones.

Grunts - Head shots from the pistol mostly, but anything will do the job. Ideally use grenades as they travel in groups. Also if you kill an elite near them they usually all run away! A fully charged plasma pistol shot can kill the weaker ones in one.

Jackals - As well as aiming for their hand with a precise weapon or removing their shield with plasma weapons (a fully charged plasma pistol shot removes it in one) try grenades. Even if they avoid them they'll still jump and leave themselves exposed for a moment. Also try just shooting at them a bit as they usually do a side roll to escape and lower their shield for a moment.

Elites - Elites are hard...unless you know how to stop them. Use plasma weaponary to remove their shields (again, a full plasma pistol shot will remove them in one) and use the pistol to get a head shot. They don't like shotgun blasts either, then again who would? ;) Without their shields they are also quite weak against melee attacks. Move in close, dodge their swipe and hit them repeatedly. Don't try this on the ones with plasma swords, they may hit you anyway and kill you. Failing that, throw loads of grenades at them. They tend to jump away from them easily but if you throw two or three around you'll probably get them.

Hunters - Hunters are even worse, but again if you know how to kill them they're OK. Either shoot them in any part of their exposed orange skin with a pistol or sniper rifle or move in close, keep dodging their melee attacks and shoot/melee them to death. Eplosives works too.

Infection forms - Anything will do, even a melee attack. Best to use rapid-fire weapons though. Keep well away if you lose your sheild!

Warrior forms - Just use the shotgun a lot! Failing that try the pistol or Assault Rifle. Try and keep away from them as they can be lethal up close. Kill the ones with shotguns and rocket launchers from afar.

Carrier forms - Anything will do. Kill them from a distance and when they're near other flood so they take them out as well!

Sentinels - Energy weapons, or if you're a good throw plasma grenades as they travel in groups.

No go forth and kill, soldier. :D

good tips!
I have found a way to kill hunters pretty easily by using a mixture of meelee attack and automatic weapon fire.
run up to them! they cant shoot you if they are running at you!
let them charge you then dodge right or left and they will stop to get their balance! you can turn and shoot them in the back, and when your clip empties you can meelee them!

That's what I do, it's the best way to kill them unless you have a pistol or sniper rifle, in which case just aim for the exposed orange skin. One shot is all you need!

Something I like to do is "Hunter Painting." Get one hunter on his own and, using a plasma pistol shoot him ONLY in the exposed orange skin areas until he dies. This weapon makes enemies bleed a lot, and when you've finished there'll be orange blood everywhere!

In reply to: Re: Weaknesses of Covenant, Flood and Humans

Odd tactics, people.

Unless you have marines, Hunters are NEVER a problem. Run up close and use whatever weapon you have available. The plasma weapons suck, the needler is better, the rifle is long range. I'd stick to the basic pistol, but meleeing works quite well. And don't listen to that goon. Always dodge LEFT. The Hunters left; his melee weapon is on your right. If you dodge that way, he has a better chanc eof hitting you even if you try to dodge. I like watching them beat eachother to death.

With the Jackals, Grenades, charge shots, and most importantly; MELEE ATTACKS! Two can kill a jackal on the later difficulties. One on easy for the ones with the orange/yellow shield. These can get EXTREMELY tricky on Legendary as they shoot their pistols ridiculously fast.

Grunts usually sleep. Keep quiet and knock them out.

Elites usually patrol the areas. Notice there are none 343 GS ? That's because Bungie wanted to keep the Flood's scary image! The Elites would have beaten the flood on that level, that's why there are none there! These guys are strong, keep with the plasma pistol and fire as fast as you can, sneaking in a melee once the shield is down. If you stay stralthy, you can crack them more often than you think. Just peek around a corner and study his actions, then move in when he can't see you and smack him. Also, they're extremely cocky. Growling every chance they get and when they see you. At this moment, they're motionless. Chuck in a plasma grenade if you aim well, and a frag grenade if not, and watch him fly.

The secret to fighting the entire flood army is just to keep moving at all times. Know your surroundings, constantly stay attentive and survey the area. Make sure the flood in one area is wiped out before you move on to the next, or you may find yourself pancaked between two sets of them .. Not a good idea. Mop up the spores whenever you can, and if playing co-op; assign a duty to each. One takes down fighters, and the other mops up and take down the carriers. I find this very effective. Try walking backwards and taking the flood out. Move in circles and everything, it really works!

Elites and jackals both tend to point at you when they see you. Use this moment to take off their shields with a fully-charged plasma shot or use a plasma grenades as primaloutragex says. It's a real lifesaver!

Keep an eye on your motion tracker, it helps you spot when they're coming in behind you and helps you avoid running into them as you try and move away if they're getting too close. A lot of people forget to use the motion tracker, it's actually very useful for any enemy.

A fun, but pretty stupid way to kill hunters is to (assuming there is two of them)stand behind the one Hunter, and let him try to whack you. Don't let him. Dodge the heck out of his way. The other Hunter will get all angry, run backwards, and blast his buddy, instead of you, if you're lucky, off the face of the planet. Just make sure that you have gotten a checkpoint before you attempt this manuevuer.

Best thing for killing the big flood is the shotgun. I was playing on co-op legendary with my friend, and he kept rushing into battle and dying, so I just stayed behind the walls. When they come around, just crack off a bullet in their general directiong and they're dead. If you are reloading and they come, either switch weapons or let just strafe madly to the sides as they will usually miss. Then your friend can respawn and kill himself again. :P

In reply to: Re: Weaknesses of Covenant, Flood and Humans

Bungie said that shining a flashlight on them will momentarily stun Flood elites/warriors.. and if you're talented with a shotgun, you can shoot the arms off their warriors.

They'll fall down momentarily then get back up, armless, and hence defense/weaponless. Then you can have the sadistic pleasure of melee-ing them to death ^_^. Me and a friend did this and it took about 10 melee's to his back and front to finally make him fall down and not get back up. So it is possible to melee the Flood to death, it just takes forever.

Also a tactic for taking out a group of their spores(we call them headcrabs) is to throw a frag into their midist. The short detonation time will obliterate the lot of 'em. It's also always fun to melee them as they leap at you to their deaths.. the little kamakazis(sp?)..

Only the sniper rifle and the human pistol will kill a hunter with one shot to the exposed orange area on their backs. anything else is suicide (with the exception of Rocket Launchers!). DO NOT USE PLASMA GRENADES ON HUNTERS.

Well, it's true that plasma grenades are usually useless. However, if used near a Hunter by a ledge, you can use it to throw them to their death.

Also, if no pistol or sniper is available, you can kill Hunters with the AR or the shotgun-- it just takes a little bit longer than with the pistol, but the same tactics apply.

In reply to: Re: killing hunters

I actually look forward to meeting hunters because they're a lot of fun to kill.

1) The needler. Aim over the hunter's head and the needles will track down, over the shield and light on the body. This takes a long time, and several needler clips, but it's fun to do.

2) Dodge and blast. As the hunter charges you, take one step towards him, the back up. When he swings (and he ALWAYS swings) and misses step around and shoot him in the outrageously exposed organge back. The hunter is wide open, and you usually have enough time to clean the dirt from your boots, then you can blast him. The shotgun, sniper rifle and pistol will drop him in one shot. The plasma rifle and pistol take a bit longer.

3) Get high. Hunters don't jump very well, and they won't shoot you at close range. Get on top of something where you are over there head and shoot at will. They can't raise their shields up very high, so you just plink them in the head until they go down.

: : has any1 else noticed that every cutscene has the
: chief
: : with a rifle, regardless of whether you actually have
: one or
: : not? they made the cutscenes to show the dead bodies
: in
: : different places so why the fuck wouldn't they make
: the
: : cutscenes able to substitute other weapons for the
: : rifle????
:
: I think the rifle has some sort of dramatic/power effect.
: That's y it's my personal favorite (and the shotgun)

At that point the masterchief has become invinsible and no longer needs a weapon. he can beat the flood to death with his bare hands! mwahahah! just kidding ^_^.. don't know why he doesn't have a weapon.. maybe they were alluding to the ability he'll have in Halo 2 to put away his weapon and run faster?

All the ememys are behind him, he needs his hands to get up in the ship and hit the door, he has no use for a weapon at that point so why have it out. It will only weigh him down so maybe he threw it away as he ran up since everythings about to blow

I noticed that he does always has a rifle. I guess it's easier to program it that way.
