Louis Wu posted a link to a CNN story over at HBO entitled Which new game console should you buy? Nine editors from GamePro.com give advice and make predictions about the Xbox and the GameCube, as well as the reigning king, the PlayStation 2.
Air Hendrix had this to say about Bungie's platform of choice:
The dark horse is certainly the Xbox, and if not for Microsoft's deep pockets, it'd be easy to call it the Dreamcast 2. But outstanding games like Halo make the Xbox a serious contender. If I had pick to the most-likely-to-fail, it'd be the Xbox, but I think it has a real chance, and its fortunes rest on how much gotta-play-it software Microsoft delivers in the next year or so.
Star Dingo went further, saying that Halo now sits at the very top of my MUST PLAY list, dethroning Star Wars and DOA3. We'll omit his admission that he'd commit unspeakable acts to do so. Oops.

Microsoft will obviously be counting on Bungie to deliver new Xbox titles. Does this mean that they'd rather have Bungie developing the next big thing than working on PC/Mac ports of HALO? Assuming Bungie IS responsible for PC/Mac ports, how much of a resource committment can we expect? Will the features that this game deserves (Internet play, keyboard/mouse, level editors, etc.) find their way back into the product?

Well, AFAIK it was never stated that Bungie would be doing the ports themselves, or contracting them out. It seems a waste of effort for such talented original developers to be occupied doing a port UNLESS said port requires a lot of work for the port to be true to the original game's vision, or new features not possible on the console version, OR if said port is so easy that another title can be developmed simultaneously.
