Surprise, surprise-- the new Halo 2 maps by Certain Affinity apparently won't be only for the Xbox 360, but will also run on the original console. Hang 'em High and Derelict are coming to the new engine as Tombstone and Desolation.
Apparently this means that Xbox Marketplace can't be used, since it doesn't support original Xbox games. That's a shame, since for some odd reason, I can use Marketplace perfectly well on my 360, but the in-game downloader for Halo 2 maps doesn't work at all, which has cut me out of Halo matchmaking. Anybody had this problem and found a way around it?

Solution?
Is it a problem with the disk or the console?
If its the disk, you could always rent or borrow one from someone else.
You should try using the in-game downloader for your 360 and the xbox, to see if the problem is with both consoles.
If it doesn't work on the 360, you could try buying a new HDD.

In reply to: Solution? The in-game downloader on the Xbox 1 works, and XBL Marketplace on the 360 works, so the problem isn't with the network (since they are both on the same network) or with the 360's hard drive, which has no problem with vids, game demos, and expansion packs for 360 games.
It's something about the combination of the in-game H2 downloader, when used in emulation.
I tried deleting all the H2 content and starting over-- no good. The first patch downloads, no problems, but the maps always generate an "content installation failed" error after about ten seconds. Repeated attempts seem to have no effect.
Oh well. I guess I just wait for H3.

Drive problems
In reply to: WellThe original Xbox I have is a launch console and has severe problems loading discs. Not to mention there's no place for it to sit, and no open plugs on the projector for it to connect to.
But that's besides the point, really. I've bought the maps, I'm supposed to be able to download them. The 360 is supposed to be backwards compatible, and is supposed to run Halo 2. No method was provided for the migration of content from the old Xbox to the new 360; you were just supposed to be able to download it again. Except it doesn't seem to work, at least not for everybody, even when other downloads work fine.
'Tis a puzzlement.
