All right, was born. One week ago, Sobo announced the formation of Cartographers of Myth, a mapmaking group whose motto is Quality over Quantity. At the time, he was CoM's sole member, but 3 days ago he was joined by Mumbles, one of our forum regulars. Rampancy wishes them the very best in their endeavours (even if we do think that quality over quantity thing is a bit un-American) and looks forward to playing their creations.
While it appears to many that Bungie's webservers and the bungie.net metaserver are still down, halo.bungie.org's Louis Wu shines a bit of light on the problem:
This is my fault, folks. In an earlier news post, I optimistically predicted that there would be no shortage of games on bungie.net tonight. And old man Murphy, taking exception to this, has apparently intervened.
Apparently, many people are experiencing connection problems, and are unable to reach bungie.net. The server appears to be up, though... one or two people on RHL were able to log in without difficulty. However, substantially more were not... this could be a result of the frenzy of activity following the full reset today.
Kudos to Madrigal, who pointed out that the MWC 2000 tournament has closed registration after only a few days, having reached their limit of 96 teams. Shamelessly snipped from their Entry page:
Team registration for Myth World Cup has reached its 96 team limit. Team registration is now closed. Please tune in to our news page and our forum for important information about last minute openings on the team roster. Openings may be offered if any registered teams are determined to be ineligible.
Kudos to Ned Hamfist, who passed along a PR regarding the interesting Magma project to convert Myth II maps back to the Myth I engine (quite an impressive accomplishment, actually). A hefty chunk of the letter for you to chew on:
We've received a PR from Stinger, head of this year's Myth World Cup crew, with the announcement that they are now officially open for business:
I caught this both at Bungie.net and the Myth Townhall. The Myth World Cup 2000 website is now accepting registrations from teams who wish to participate in the tournament.
