Way back in the day, when Myth map editors were just beginning to emerge from the primordial ooze, a site called FutureMyth started looking to the future, speculating about editing and new incarnations of the game that many of us still devote a great deal of time to. Eventually becoming part of the legendary VR's site, the forum this site hosted was a rich source of ideas and speculation during the development and leading up to the launch of Myth II.
Today marks the third year since Myth: The Fallen Lords was released! It took Best Game of the Year and Real Time Strategy Game of the Year awards from several publications and online gaming sites in 1998, and game critics still continue to use it as a measuring stick for the real-time strategy/tactical genre.
Powerman announced to us that he is currently working on a Starship Troopers mod for Myth II. However, he reports that he could use some assistance. Powerman is doing relatively well with the scripting, but he needs talented people to assist with color mapping and general mapmaking. He'll also be on the lookout for beta testers when the time is right. Oh, and one more thing... The Starship Troopers mod is based on Heinlein's book and not the movie.
Time flies when you're having fun... this week will mark the third anniversary of Myth, which started to ship and arrive on November 7th, 1997. The official launch date was November 14-15th, though, and already some special events are brewing up, as evidenced by this note from Giliath:

Amidst much grumbling and cursing of websites, fisj pointed out that the Jinn site at VistaCartel has recieved a facelift and some nifty new material. Both the screenshots and the feel of the site itself hint at that of the finished product, which is due out before Oni.

In yet another shocker in this day of shocks, Take Two Interactive has announced their continuation of the Myth series, which it recently obtained from Bungie Software in a settlement following its assimilation by Microsoft... Myth III: Arena.
Kudos to Maestro, and those before him, who noticed a trio of new Jinn shots quietly uploaded to RHL by iggy, Vistan model-meister turned covert PR operative. Showing off some of Jinn's fantastic models, the three shots give a tantilizing look at things to come.
Kudos to Mumbles, who pointed out Myth's presence in a Gamespot list of the 15 most influential games of all time. While Myth didn't make the cut (it's one of the 10 runners-up), neither did arch-nemesis Star/WarCraft (Dune 2000 recieved the nod for the RTS genre). Only a short mention, but not bad for a casual click and read.
