Rampancy

MariusNet is reporting that the maintainers of the site, Conner and Marius, are going to leave their Myth 2 and Myth TFL server running, but will no longer support it or create new user accounts:

It's time for a new hobby. Conner and I have been putting in countless hours supporting marius net for a number of months now, and it's time to move on to other things.

So, we've set up the server and web site to eliminate all support work. As a result, we will no longer be accepting new login requests. New users can sign on using the guest account, but will not be allowed to chat. They can, however host and join games and chat in game. We will also be turning off the game stats since that requires alot of effort to maintain.

The server will remain on as long as we have a free pipe, and the rules still apply, but Conner and I have no desire to spend our time on this anymore.

On a separate but related note, MWA and MythMaps.com have announced they will jointly run a Myth 2 server, and are soliciting C++ programmers to help.

We've changed over many (although not all) of the site's internal links to rampancy.synfibers.com so that the site will be a little more functional until our real domain returns.

Strolled over to the Marathon Open Source project page and saw that the Macintosh version of Aleph One was updated earlier today. Although it's dated February 20, there is no news item that lists the latest changes. At any rate, be sure to download the latest build if Aleph One is your thing.

Word on bungie.net is that a gathering will be held amongs its Seventh Column chapters in Santa Monica, CA on May 24, 2002. There's lots of information about the tournament your chapter can participate in as well as registration details, which, by the way, will open on Thursday, February 21. If sixteen player Halo goodness sounds appealing to you, then arrange for your chapter to participate in this undeniably cool gathering.
