Several posters have professed doubt about this image. It was not, to the best of our knowledge, produced in photoshop or edited in any misleading way. The hack in question is achieved, generally speaking, by using a modchip to allow users to connect to their Xbox's hard drives using an ordinary Windows PC, edit the cached map files that Halo 2 (like Halo 1 before it) keeps on the Xbox's hard drive, and then running the game with those edited map caches. In this case, the mod author swapped the model of one weapon, the plasma sword, for another weapon, the plasma rifle, to get around the engine's definition of the sword as a non-dual-wieldable weapon. This is one of the more trivial kinds of hacks that have been performed using Halo or Halo 2 on the Xbox; others have included a pilotable dropship and Pelican and a flying warthog. There is NO way for this to affect anyones game online. First of all, modded XBoxes are banned from XBox Live, for life. Second, even if someone did this, your box would have to have it done to it too. So dont rant and rave about hackers, get over yourselfs and just play.

Do not be too sure. Players are already using similar methods to cheat at PGR2. It is possible to activate a modchip, extract game elements like map cache files, modify them, upload them to the Xbox, deactivate the modchip, and connect to Xbox Live.

Some Xbox owners who have modded their Xboxes by doing other modifications-- such as replacing the hard drive-- are finding themselves banned. But I doubt it is possible now, nor do I believe it will be possible forever-- for Microsoft to detect every single possible method of modifying an Xbox.

Now, Halo 2's networking model has an authoritative server, so I doubt a hack like this would have any effect unless the host was the modified console. In any case, the game would most likely go out of sync in a fairly spectacular way, probably one that could be detected by looking at game statistics. But don't say there is NO way.

I was playing x box live last night and nooone i mean nooone was on the flag and i was standing right on it then all a sudden they got it and sayed game over so idk what your thinking about no mob but they did something to it b.c i was standing righttt on the flag then we did it again and i was standing where you score nooone there the other team was not even opn the map but the sad part of it all is they where level 8's and i scored on them without no damn mods and also changing guns i got a shotgun then all a sudden the other team had 5 snipers so if your so smart saying no mod work or w.e explain that one to me it was only 1 min into the game they all had shot gun to.

yes it is possible! I was on the internet stocking up on halo 2 mods for my xbox when i stumbled over the mod that lets you get into the pelican. I just hope your not an ameteur modder because it is not that easy. I don't know if you will be able to get it into coagulation, but its possible. And there is also a mod for a shadow being able to be jacked. The cheats are at: files.halomods.com you will have to register to their forums to get it though

becuz im a modder and i know how to setup the the maps with the new ass version of h2edit (dothalo) by my good frined farlem heres how to do it 1. u need a modded box 2.ftp software 3.take the halo 2 map your want 2 mod 4. open it 5.goto the weapon dir.and look for the sword 6.make it dual weildable hey rampant go fuck your self- enixdied xbc game id:enixdied

where would u get a modded xbox and ftp software and also, just a thought, it could be edited because when the spartan holds a sword his left hand is like open and when he is holding the sword in that pic his hand is kinda open, just a thought.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ch2r/ this is a cool app! u can edit your existing halo2 maps! and change the paramiters on all weapons!!!!!!!! u can dual any weapons have unlimited or limited ammo! change the damage on guns and bullets plus much much more!

I know how the F-ker did it. He had two people with swords stand RIGHT next to each other to make it LOOK like he had duel swords! You can even SEE that there is one Spartan arm and one covenent arm.

Completely possible. If you notice the angle of the left sword is all fucked up... maybe it would seem fake if it were at the actual perceptual angle of what a sword should be. But you can edit the meta data of the game to make it think that its a sword. And in editing said data you can also attack with the both swords.

no sword icorn is apearing in the upper left, and MC's left hand is apearing as he only had one sword.

The modder replaced the model of another weapon with the sword's model. It's not a photoshop fake.

I don't believe this is still going on.

The image is NOT FAKE. It was achieved by a very early modder who replaced the model of a plasma weapon with the sword's model. It was not (and was never) functional, nor intended to be. But it is not a photoshop fake; if it were, I'd have identified it as such.
