On the home page of "Halo Wars" close to the middle of the screen there is an elite that looks like he is duel weilding energy swords...will that be possible in "Halo Wars" and in Halo 3? i hope so because that would be cool. Then you could have the option to throw a sword at an opponent insted of getting close to do a lunge attack.
if anyone else has opinions of the swords for halo wars or halo 3 post your ideas id like to see other peoples opinions on that topic.

Dual swords
I would love to have dual swords in H3 and Hwars! Being able to throw a sword at an opponent would be cool! But I have doubts about that happening. I also have doubts about dual swords, but they might make it dual wieldable in H3 because ,well if you look at it the sword IS a one handed weapon as is all the other dual wieldable weapons. So shouldn't the sword be dual wieldable. I have heard that the swords in halo 3 will be less affective because people complain about its one hit kill. So if they will be less affective in halo 3 than dualwielding them should definitely be an option to gain back the original power. Just think.............double hack and a double uppercut..............nice.

Weapons arbitrary
In reply to: Dual swordsKeep in mind that the nature of particular weapons, including their dual-wieldability, is a pretty arbitrary thing that Bungie can influence how they like. Weapons that are too powerful to dual wield (sniper, BR, brute shot, rocket launcher) are usually two-handed weapons. The sword is the exception. But it didn't have to be that way; if Bungie had wanted other extremely powerful weapons that only took one hand to wield, they might very well have prevented them from being dual-wielded, too.
Also, it's not clear to me how sword dual-wielding would even be useful. With projectile weapons, the advantage is clear: twice the rate of fire. Swords don't have a "rate of fire". One strike/lunge, one hit (for MASSIVE DAMAGE). You can't target independently with dual-wielded weapons since there's only one reticle.
If Halo had independent targeting, it would be useful to simultaneously take out more than one enemy. Since you can't, all it would do would be deliver twice the damage. Obviously that's more than Bungie wanted you to be able to do.

I still think he is duel weilding
In reply to: Weapons arbitraryYou do have a good point on this subject but if i remember correctly the Master Cheif did have a rocket launcher in one hand and an smg in the other on the levle Delta Halo right after Cortana says "Could we possibly make anymore noise?" and I would bet my Xbox that that elite is duel weilding swords on the Halo Wars home page. I cant think of anything else that he could be holding...can you?

Limitations
In reply to: I still think he is duel weildingAt the end of the Delta Halo cutscene you do see the Chief holding an SMG in one hand and an RL in the other. But that's a cutscene, used to show you what weapons the Chief is carrying at that time. Once gameplay begins, you can't do that. You might be able to carry an RL in one hand (or, rather, on your shoulder as the Chief does in that scene) but you can't operate it without both hands.
As for the Halo Wars page-- I'm afraid that's not really canon. Just because an artist working for Ensemble thought it would be cool to draw an Elite with two swords doesn't mean that Bungie is ever going to implement such a feature-- or that they think it would be possible or practical in terms of gameplay to do so.

What Sword?
In reply to: I still think he is duel weildingI hope you guys aren't blind. That Elite is only holding one Energy Sword in its right hand. If you remember in the Halo Wars trailer, the Elite had only one sword because it used its other hand to grab and throw the marine behind him.
Yes, the Master chief was hold an SMG and a Rocket Launcher, but to hold two weapons in each hand would render the SMG extremely inaccurate than it already is.

Concept art
In reply to: Looks like 2 energy swordsOne: concept art for one game (Halo Wars) is no indication of upcoming features in another game (Halo 3).
That said, the Brute Vidoc has a test animation with an Elite dual wielding swords. But just because they do it doesn't mean the player can, in campaign or multiplayer. Halo 1 had swords, but the player could not wield them.

Yes, but...
In reply to: I still think he is duel weildingHe may be able to hold a rocket launcher and an smg, but i highly doubt he can actually do whatever he does to launch the rocket.

wielding plasma shields
In reply to: Weapons arbitraryI personally, think that plasma sheild and sword would be a good combination. If we are able to weild the sheilds with any dual-wield gun then that would be awesome, but i have to agree with narcogen on the thing that we should only have one sword.

DW Swords, no way
In reply to: Dual swords
I have heard that the swords in halo 3 will be less affective because people complain about its one hit kill. So if they will be less affective in halo 3 than dualwielding them should definitely be an option to gain back the original power.
I sincerly hope that they don't do this. Reduce the lunge and keep the one hit kill. Restore one hit kill in campaign even on Legendary.
The Halo sword had style. The h2 sword was a pale imitation and if Halo 3 turns it into a dw weapon..., actually I can't see Bungie making the same mistake twice. The sword will not be dw.
Just think.............double hack and a double uppercut..............nice.
Being forced to do twice the work to achieve the same effect? That's not nice.

The image being discussed was in Halo Wars, though, not Halo 3, so Forge isn't relevant.
In any case, there were assets that showed characters dual wielding swords in Halo 3-- apparently that idea just didn't make the cut.

Dual Weilding Energy Swords?
Are you dumb? There should not be dual weilding energy swords in any Halo game period. It's just stupid! It's Halo, not Bloodrayne!

Scoring?
In reply to: dual weilding energy swords? Is cutting a head off supposed to be worth two points?
What's the point of dual-wielding a weapon that kills in one strike usually?

duel swords halo 3
actually if you watch the development of halo 3 video on the brutes you see a elite cut off a brutes legs and stab him while duel wielding energy swords?

yeah

why duel wielding swords could be a good idea
ok on halo 2 on legendary one sword usally is'nt worth jack beacause every time you cut some one theres a 2 second delay which is more than enough time for a elite to beat you down but duel wielding will alow you to turn right around and cut down other elites with no delay

Yes you see a elite duel wielding swords on concept art, but how often does everything in concept art end up in the game ?

SWORDS CANNOT BE THROWN
narcogen
Proof?
In reply to: SWORDS CANNOT BE THROWN
It blows my mind how few people know this. The Energy Sword has a pressure activated trigger. Meaning, when you hold the handle and squeeze it, it turns on. Let go, it turns off. There is proof of this in the video "Another Day at the Beach" as well as other places. The fact that the swords stay turned on in Halo 2 Multiplayer is a design flaw and one I believe will be fixed in Halo 3.

Given that Halo is first and foremost a game, I'd consider the behavior of objects in gameplay to be definitive, rather than their behavior in cutscenes or the novels.
If what you said was true, swords would be deactivated when picked up. However, then they'd be too hard to see.
