There's certainly precedent for a November release :)

Plus, that gives Bungie the maximum amount of time to polish the game.

Where did they say it was coming before the movie?

In the latest Weekly Update, they said the release date of the movie and the game have nothing to do with one another whatsoever.

At this point, the movie doesn't have a director, nor (it seems) a final script, nor an official release date. Meanwhile Bungie's been working on Halo 3 for almost a year and a half.

So if I had to bet money, I'd say Halo 3 hits the streets before the Halo movie does at this point.

Because I think their desire to produce a polished and complete game is stronger than their desire to commemorate Bungie Day with a game launch.

If it's ready by then, that'd be cool, but I'd sooner see Halo 3 be the ultimate Halo experience.

You can say it as many times as you like, but Bungie has clearly said "2007" and there's no logical reason to think they are being dishonest about that.

Unless you're saying you think the PS3 launch is going to be delayed until 2007? That doesn't seem likely either. Although it would be a nightmare for Sony, I think, to be two whole holiday shopping seasons behind the Xbox 360, even if the 360's launch was marred by availability constraints.

That would be more damaging than Halo 3 launching on the same date. I don't think anybody ever actually thought that would have any effect on them whatsoever. If you like Halo and have an Xbox, you're buying Halo 3 when it comes out. That $60 or so isn't going to stop you from buying a PS3 also if you want one and you have the money. If you don't, or weren't going to, then when the PS3 launches isn't really important. Gates made that remark to get journalists to write "ooh, Microsoft is playing hardball."

The poll asks WHEN in 2007 it will be released, moron. With options for suggesting Bungie will be early (late 2006) or late (early 2008).

And given that we host two copies of the movie trailer here, it's a safe bet we've seen it.

IMDB is essentially a wiki-like site in that just about anyone can add information to it. As such, it is not a reliable source of information at all.

Recently the IMDB entry for the Halo movie listed Uwe Boll as a director. That gives you an idea of the level of accuracy at IMDB, especially early in a project's production.

IMDB is a great source of information-- after a movie is released.

Either you're misinformed, or you're holding out on us.

All Bungie has said is "2007". No more, no less.

Plus, there would be no sense in releasing in January anyway. The market is fatigued by Christmas spending. If it's not ready in time for Christmas 2006, I feel confident they'd wait until at least April to release.

November 2007 is far more likely. January makes little sense, and is not a date mentioned on the record by anyone, to the best of my knowledge.
