a friend of mine believes (foolishly in my opinion) that the needler in halo: combat evolved, was a terrible weapont that no one ever used. I think that it was a good weapon that was quite deadly in the right hands. I thought that either he or me could finally be proven correct if i brought it up here. Let the masses give me an answer

Multiplayer or Campaign?
In reply to: bumpIn multiplayer I think you'll find the vast majority of people do, in fact, believe the needler to be quite useless. Its projectiles are too slow and easy to dodge, and getting enough into a target to trigger an explosion is far too difficult. In a large FFA where a number of players are crowded together on a small map, a distant player with a needler might be able to do some damage-- but in that same situation grenades would be far more effective.
In Campaign, it's a different story. At medium range the needler can be quite effective against Elites, as long as they don't have sufficient cover to hide from its projectiles. I use it in that situation in order to save ammunition in other, more valuable weapons, if for no other reason.
In Halo 2, the same holds true-- dual needlers are still of limited value in multiplayer, but are decent enough for taking out Brutes in campaign mode.

Depends on the game
In reply to: thank you very much for the infoI don't have Halo 2 or 3, so I can't really say much, but I'll stick my input in anyway. According to my limited experience, in the first Halo, the Needler is fantastic at medium to close range, but you have to try and sneak on somebody when they're sniping or something.

Re: Needler: good or bad
i suggest its use if you are playing on a relatively small map. otherwise it will be of to far a range to be as effective as it actually is.
