I am new to Halo 2 Live. I have beaten the Halo 1&2 on hardest level many many times, thinking I was somewhat of a talented player. I would tell people how good I was right up until I started to play online. Then I realized that I sucked. Started playing Slayer as a level one. Despite getting my ass kicked, I proceeded to rapidly get promoted to level 14, where I stand now. I have found that it seems easier at level 14 then level 1. I believe this for two reasons 1. there is a handful of people that somehow keep their level low so they can always win 2. I am getting a little better. So basically I am looking for someone to kind of take me under their wing and show me how to get better. I usually play on Sun, Mon, Tues, and Wed mornings for a couple of hours. My tag is "edgedamage5". So If their is anyone out there that is a talented player and doesn't mind showing their stuff. Perhaps we can pair up. Or if there is a good team looking for an additional player. I am a very quick learner. I have noticed that in order to be good you have to learn the maps, inside and out. This will come with time, but I also need some moves and logic on things like what guns work best head to head and so on.

Deleveling
What you describe as people who keep their level low so they can always win is called deleveling.
People will play and win until their level becomes so high that their competition is as good or better than they are.
Then they intentionally lose games, usually by suiciding over and over again, until they lose enough rank that the competition is again easier for them.
This has two negative consequences. For one, you get an unenjoyable game while your competition ceaselessly kills themselves, and two, it means that players you run up against are often better than their rank indicates.
I'm not a particularly good player (plus my connection is so lagged I hardly play anymore) but advice on weapons: learn to love the BR and never touch the needler. The combination of the plasma pistol's alt fire and... well, just about anything... is still pretty darn deadly. SMGs and pistols together also still work fairly well.
Rampant for over six years.

good tips
Narco,
Thanks for the info on deleveling. Its too bad people do this. Personally, I find the best game is when everyone is close, although it rarely happens, when it does, it makes for an exciting run. Starting to get Ok with guns. I guess it just a matter of control and timing now. Perhaps level 14 is where I am gonna stay, but hope to get better. I play with a group of guys from work every Thurs night. Seems that I am one of the worst, but a few of these guys are level 21 to 27. Thanx for the tips
