2. The Halo Bible Does Exist... Doesn't It?

Tue, 09/05/2006 - 02:18 by narcogen

Brannon Boren, of Boren's Syndrome fame, laments on his blog that the Wikipedia entry on Bungie Studios casts doubt on the existence of the Halo Bible.

Such a shame.

Got a picture?

Only one I've ever seen was an HBO corner shot, and I was never sure if that was an actual picture, or just something meant to represent the Bible.

That one was fake.

The cornershot was a totally made-up image created by Poena Dare. I feel bad now, because its obvious fakeness probably contributed to the Wikipedia writeup.

The only thing to do, then, is produce a copy of the Halo Bible that looks like Poena.Dare's image.

No, I think the only thing left to do is release the Halo Bible to the masses to prevent any and all confusion for once. Methinks you would have a field day with that.

Well

I don't think Wu meant that as a slight-- just the idea that it looked *too good* to be a real document that Bungie would actually have and use. :)

Where ya been, p.d?

I understood that differently

Wed, 09/06/2006 - 22:28

I don't think that blog post was to cast doubt on the existance of the Halo Bible, but that was to hint that the description of its contents were inaccurate.

(I'd cheerfully correct the Wikipedia entry, should I be able to, er, "research" the issue.)

-- Steve's not entirely certain he'd enjoy a giant book of spoilers, though, but sacrifices must be made...

The blog didn't, the wiki did

In reply to: I understood that differently Wed, 09/06/2006 - 23:32

The blog didn't cast doubt-- the wiki did, as it said it was not sure the Bible actually existed as a single entity. The blog was lamenting the wiki's doubt, which now Frankie has dispelled.

Adjusts non-existant monocle

In reply to: The blog didn't, the wiki did Thu, 09/07/2006 - 13:11

Ah. Sorry, my misread of your post. (Maybe I should invest in optical assistance or something...)

I vaguely remember seeing a Bungie webcam picture of the spine of a biggish 3-ring binder with "Halo Bible v.(some#)" printed on it... wish I could remember where it was archived. Because of that picture, and because it just makes too much sense to have one, I never doubted that there was some sort of common working document available outlining what one could and could-not do within the Haloverse.

Brannon Boren says there is one, and describes it thusly:
There was, in fact, a Halo Story Bible. The May 2003 edition (v.6.0) is on my desk right now. It's 408 pages long, held in a 2" black 3-ring binder.
Still trying to get a picture :)
