Braving the ixnay on posting the scans from the recent, rather revealing PCXL article, Battleground: Halo has posted the three page article in all it's 1.2 megs of goodness. Some terrific shots there, including some of the only hinted at human aircraft. And almost as importantly, the text is somewhat legible, so the article itself can be made out.
Let's hope PCXL doesn't take this as a kick at them while they're down--there's some valuable material in that article, and if you want the real deal, go buy a copy anyways.
The magazine that brought us the most recent dead-tree preview for Halo, PC Accelerator, is closing up shop. Here's part of their statement:
An interesting experiment in news reporting happening over at Haloplayers: a news page where readers can add and edit the posted news, becoming reporters and editors in a sense. Our World is the name of the place, and here's hoping it's not dragged down by an immature few.
After making my flyby of the usual gaming sites I discovered that GameSpot has a poll up on their front page:
Major kudos to SiliconDream and CyberBob for the formidable and apparently spontaneous article on the physics of the Halo system posted in the forum earlier today.
The article covers in great detail the (believed) orbital characteristics of the Halo system, from Lagrange points to the weather on the Halo itself. A terrific, long read (with pictures!), perhaps even comparable to a Noctavis style post. ;)
Not a major news item, but noteworthy if you're new to the Halo scene and wondering about the whole first vs. third person perspective debate. XZCion has ventured into the old forum archives and picked out some rather ancient perspective debate threads, listing a handful for people who weren't around to witness their creation.
Recoil of Halo Skin Surge sends word that they've posted an article examining that oft seen star of the Halo vehicles, the jeep:
Not really our jurisdiction, but a pair of interesting Marathon screenshots hiding on CPHL were pointed out to me a few days ago, and subsequent investigation turned up no prior reports on them. I'll feel rather silly if these are old news, but the creation dates were fairly recent... anyways, here they are for your viewing pleasure:
A pair of interesting items over at halo.bungie.org today. Foretelling great things for Halo at E3, Bungie's Matt Soell has remarked in a forum post that the E3 showing this year should surpass even the MWNY unveiling last year. Interesting, especially given the enthusiastic response to Halo last year at MWNY.
