does anyone know where to find this music?!!!

a post on march 17 said that the sheet music for "The Siege of Madrigal" can be found in a secret place in Halo. Where in the hell is this music sheet thingy (or is it just part of the soundtrack?) what i'm trying to find out is, is it an actual picture of the sheet music, or is it actually music? i know there are certain other easter eggs in the game, such as the initials on the bottom of Master Chief's boot, but i've never heard something of this caliber. sheet music?! in the GAME?!!! gotta see this. please respond.

There are two things being mentioned here. One is that one reader named Poop Scoop transcribed the Halo theme-- literally by listening to the music, he wrote down what notes you'd need to play.

The other thing is that Marty O'Donnell, the guy who wrote the music in the first place, made available his score for a part of the soundtrack to Myth, Bungie's earlier realtime strategy game series.

All of those sheets are available for download at http://rampancy.net/sheetmusic for registered users of this site.

Now, the connection between that piece of Myth music, titled "Siege of Madrigal" and Halo is that if you fly a banshee to a specific point above the platform outside the control room in the Assault on the Control Room level, the game will play that piece of music from Myth in the background.

In reply to: Two separate things

I spent a decent amount of my free time [Total time - (Myth + Hotline + forum crawling + school) = not much] in '99 trying to "reverse engineer" this piece, but having run away from music lessons of any description as early in my schooling I could, I didn't get very far.

Who would have thought I'd happen across the sheet music while procrastinating five years later, and not even looking for it.

Go the Marty Army!

yes it is the actual music u hear, not see.
and u can also hear the music in the soundtrack, after the song "Halo", the last sont on the track, there is a space of silence, then the music starts. its the same thing u hear in AotCR, only without the vocals in the second verse.

in the level "assault on the control room" near the end where you have to steal a banshee off a bridge instead of just continuing on, pull up and the second ledge up try and land on it and walk to the right as far as you can and after a while you should hear music.
