They won't make Halo 3. I'm assuming possibly POSSIBLY a Halo 2.5 or maybe just a bunch of downloadable content. They went through some serious bullshit making Halo 2.. then they fucked up and screwed it all to hell.. so I think they'll stick to a revision to this one, or some downloadable content. Just maybe.
---Wanted9867---
on what you mean by Halo 3.
I seriously hope they don't re-do the graphics engine AGAIN; I just want to see more story and content, not newfangled graphical hocus pocus.
I think it comes down to questions of when and for what platform. There's only so much life left in the Xbox, and it would probably be seen as a waste to put the next Halo game on the Xbox 2 without rewriting the engine to take advantage of its new capabilities, which would surely take time, perhaps more time than Bungie has before that console launches.
No doubt... it's a pickle. It'll be interesting to see what actually happens.
If there ever could be a serious conflict between serving the interests of Bungie and Bungie fans and serving the interests of Microsoft's Gaming division, this might be it.
I'm sure MS wants a Bungie launch title for Xbox 2. How can't they?
I'm sure Bungie wants enough time to deliver Halo 3.
I'm sure they both want any Xbox 2 game to showcase the hardware's power.
Pick any two out of three.

Most Bungie employees are more sparing with their use of exclamation points.
Most of them also don't login from computers in Sprint's netblocks operating out of northern Virginia, but from the Redmond, WA area where Bungie Studios is located.
In other words, maybe Bungie is working on Halo 3, and maybe it will come out in 2007. But any relationship between those facts and your post here are purely coincidental.
Nothiing to see here folks.. move on.
halo 3 will b made i was vry dissapointed at the end i was well into the game and i ws very eager to kill the prophet dude i found the last brute (boss thingy) well easy to kill
I have to say finally watching the ending (my bro finished it while I was out) it leaves the story line with questions new and old.
What was Dr. Hansley's mission?
What happened to the other Spartan II's?
What about the Spartan III's?
Just to name a few.
And if you haven't figured it out, the Covenant want Earth to activate all the Halo's. So I'm sure it'll be finished as to who wins the war. It will be interesting with the Marines and Spartans along with the Elites, Grunts and Hunters going against the Brutes, Jackals, Drones and the Prophet of Truth.
And the most important question: What will be done about the Flood?
The books seem to "fill in" parts of the story that the games don't touch on, but at least so far, the games haven't picked up on anything introduced in the books. I know a lot of people were expecting or hoping to see other Spartans in the game, for instance, but Halo 2 ignored Halsey and that whole subplot.
As for the Flood... well... after spending two games trying to stop Halo from being activated, maybe the third will be spent doing the opposite.
After all, if the "ark" is either on the Earth, or the Earth itself, it stands to reason that it would be safe from Halo's pulse. Something had to survive the first firing, although perhaps the Forerunners placed humans there from somewhere else afterwards.

Humans are slow in technology. Maybe they were suppose to find the Forerunner technology that the Covenant found that they use. Then the Human's would be the protectors of the Universe. But even if this is true, why the Humans?
Note: Ever realised how even though Humans are out-gunned and out numbered, they always win? Humans have always been seen as the ones that develop the best stratergies. Maybe having control of the Halo's would be like a last resort thing..?
OMG wut kind of pole is that.... OF COURSE THERE IS GONNA BE A HALO 3
WHY IN THE FRIGGEN WORLD DO YOU PEOPLE WOULD THINK HALO 2 WOULD END LIKE THAT ????? *sighs*
I believe halo3 is going to bigger than 2. The reason I said that cause that monster at the end halo2 is a bigger threat than the coverant ever would be.
There will be a halo 3 beacause the ending of Halo 2 leads up to it "THIS IS SPATIN 117 CAN ANYONE HERE ME YA MASTER CHIEF WHAT R U DOIN ON THAT SHIP FINishing ThIs FiGhT!"
I heard rumors that halo 3 would suposedly come out february 9th. Ive beaten the game at legandary and at super-legandary ( with the mythic skull ) and yes it does say februrary 9th but thats all. people are saying IMPOSSIBLE THEY WONT HAVE TIME TO DO IT IN 3 MONTHS NO WAY!! but suposedly halo 2 was a too big so they made 2 parts halo 2 and halo 3 and that would be why the ending sucks so much. and for the ones who thinks 3 months isnt enough well just think this way ---> what if its already done but they wanna make some profit and wait a couple of months for halo 2 to sell then make halo 3 come out. in buisness its better to let 1 year before making a sequel to a game because it makes more money that way. i dont no what is gonna happen february 9th but something big is gonna obviously happen in bungie maybe not this year tho it might another and halo 3 might vbe called halo 2.5 ( i think there was a 2.5 for cpus.
Ive heard alot of comotion from microsoft/bungie and that it most likely wont come out till about 2006 when xbox2 is suppose to come out and ive seen some pretty sweet weaponery and screen shots so I'm damn sure there will be one.It takes place basically on earth ;) and the assult riffle has grenade luancher on the bottom w/lasers and crap. Also the grenade luancher can hold like 8 rounds semi-auto.The suits are weird but there just protos.later~
I think Bungie does have something up there sleeve. Something really big, but I don't think it will come on Februrary 9th. However, they could say they are making a Halo 3 on the date of Feb. 9.

is there going to be a halo 3.Because on halo 2 i passed all the missions but the master chief said finishing this fight and it was over.So he didn't destroy halo so i think it still halo 2 because he still needs to finish this fight.
A very sharp MegaGames reader, with a lot of free time on his hands, has pointed us in the direction of an official Microsoft page which gives away some information regarding the future of Halo. Considering the unparalleled sales success of Halo 2, you don't have to be a nuclear scientist to figure out that Microsoft will definitely mine for some more Halo gold.
Details of MS plans for Halo 3 however, have been scarce and many questions remain unanswered. When will development begin on the third game? Will the third installment appear only for XBox 2? The information provided does offer some hints about what we can expect from Halo 3.
Ironically the information regarding Halo 3 comes from MS CEO, Steve Ballmer, discussing how secure and leak proof, Microsoft's Information Rights Management for the Office system is. The comments were made on October 21, 2003 during the MS Office System 2003 launch. In order to demonstrate the security properties of the Office System, Ballmer proceeds to give an example We're working on the next version -- I hate to tell you this confidentially but I'll have to swear you to secrecy now -- we're working on the next version of Xbox right now and we're working on Halo 2 and Halo 3, the two newest versions of the game.
Now, the plan for those things are super, super secret, top secret type stuff. I mean, they really are, in fact, because if you take a look at our competition with Sony it's a big chess game -- who's going to do what. And the team said, 'Look, we want to send out the documents about this, but we really only want them to go to very few people.' They sent those documents and the e-mail around that protected with Information Rights Management. I got the document. I couldn't print it. I was not allowed. They didn't give me permission to print it. I couldn't Print Screen it. They didn't want to give me permission to do that. I couldn't forward it and when I replied to it, it stripped everything out of the original e-mail so that there was not a trace, not a place for leakage in the system.
What the above comments tell us, bearing in mind they were made over a year ago, is that Halo 3 is already over a year in its development and was, in fact, being developed almost in parallel to Halo 2. The mention of the next XBox and the timing on Halo 3's development suggest that the game will most likely be a launch partner for XBox Next, just like its granddaddy was for XBox.
All these are things we could, more or less, guess I hear you say. True but it's always nice to hear it from official lips, they don't come any more official than Steve Ballmer, but it is also interesting to find out that MS was developing Halo 2 and 3 in parallel. The other re-assuring aspect is that Microsoft may have finally created a full-proof Information Rights Management system which however, is not fool-proof.

... Balmer's retraction, and Bungie's denial that the two were being worked on in parallel. Have a look at the Weekly Update archives to see.
It'd be nice to see a Halo sequel release coming soon, but I'm not counting on it.

Bungie has not announced Halo 3 at all, let alone declared a shipping date related to another product that also does not have an official shipping date-- Xbox 2.
Please e-mail me and tell me if they are goin too make an Halo 3-8. And please let me know if i could win Halo 3-8(if you make that many) cause i really need another halo i beat both of them really fast. Thanks for you time.
I agree with Rampant AI. After all, look at how Bungie kept changing the date for Halo 2 (no offense Bungie!) and how they changed the entire game from the E3 demo. I hope the Godly people at the hands of Jason Jones know what they're doing. BTW, Jason, thanx for making 1 kick ass game!
Besides, look at the ending of Halo 2! MC's stuck on a Forerunner ship with Truth, and it's headed straight for Earth. He DID NOT kill him yet so I think the final boss in the supposed Halo 3 is going to be The Prophet of Truth. Anyway... I think the Arbiter is going to form a pact with the humans, as well as the other covies who were betrayed...
BTW, I heard Jason said he's FINALLY going to reveal what MC looks like! I'm going to die of happiness to see a 41 year old man show his face at the end of the game!
if there isn' a halo 3 i'd be very pissed, the ending at the end of halo 2 leaves too many unanswerd questions, like; what is the "ARK"? or who are the "FORERUNNERS", and also is the earth going to be screwed if TRUTH leads the covenant fleet to earth? now u see why there needs to be a halo 3.
After a few months when the new Xenon comes out, E3 2007 will show trailers of it. Trust me.
November 14, 2007.
Where will you be when the Third Coming of John is here?
what is the actual date of halo 3 cause i don't think i can wait that long. and anyone who thought the ending sucked or they screwed it up ur stupid and gay

We don't even know if there wl be a Halo 3, let alone whether Bungie are making it. To hell with asking the date - we have to hear that Bungie are going to make a Halo 3 first.
Well atleast I do, there will be a halo 3 comin out for xbox 360 next year on the same day as PS3 and the movie is coming out some time around 2008 or 2009 I think
