UPDATE: I just got a call from my cousin today saying that he just read an xbox official magazine. In it he saw an article about halo 3. It has a confirmation that bungie will put dual swords in halo 3. Although I personally have not seen the article, he has told me that he will email me a pic of the page and then i'll submitt it here if it is true.

Halo 3 will have dual swords??? Or is it just another thing that your teammates can do that you cant (dive, wallcover, hit without droping weapon when dualweilding, etc.). I recently watched the new brute documentary video on halo 3.

About half way throught the documentary ( right after the part where the brute rams the marine in the wall ) you see an elite DUALWIELDING swords dodge an attack then kills the brute. Will we be able to do this, or like I said at the top??? Is it something only our teammates can do??? OR is it just something that was put on the video???

Here is a link to a direct picture of the elite dual weilding swords.
http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/img_4135401.html

Also there are more rumors going around the net. Now I have read that not only will you be able to dualwield swords, but dualwield a gun (ex. plasma rifle) and the sword at the same time. This would be an excellent combination. If this rumor is true. It would give a certain advantage over a brute. You could easily shoot them until they go beserk (assuming they still do) then when they charge you could finish them off with your sword.

I am also hearing rumors that anyone without a shield will be killed in one hit by the sword depending on where you hit them. As you can see from the pic above, a cut to the leg or arms will only cut them off and leave the foe imobilized. But a direct cut to the chest??? One hit kill. But because of these new feats the sword will most likely be harder to find in the game and have less energy/ammo to use (accept for multiplayer).

People have been asking what is the use of dualwielding swords, and saying that it would only be useful if you can lunge in two directions.I dont know the true reason why it would be much more useful but here is what I think:

What if you can only lunge with one sword. Have you ever noticed when you lunge at an opponent your hand stays in the air and it takes a while before you can attack again? Well, maybe when you dualwield swords you can lunge and while your doing the uppercut you can defend yourself at the same time with the other sword rather than just being a sitting duck after you do an uppercut. So there is something that might be useful when you dualwield swords.

Just out of curiosity-- from where is it "confirmed" that sword damage is or is not being reduced? I don't remember seeing that in the doc, or in any of the interviews to date.

In reply to: Confirmed?

Sorry the article was deleted. It was at www.ign.com next to the halo 3 wishlist but the page was updated and I dont see it any more. I'm not kidding though it did say that bungie confirmed that there will be no sword reduction. If you want I can remove that info from my blog.

In reply to: RE: Confirmed?

I believe that it will be in the game. Why? Because the video in the Vidoc with the elite Dual Wielding Energy Swords was actually a 3d Model in 3ds max. Look at some of the similar Scenes like it, and you can see the actual grid which always appears in 3ds Max. Therefore, if they've already built the animations for the Elites To use it, this makes it a very obvious Possibilty that Bungie will include it ingame. Also, the reason swords Would be Useful When Dual Wielded would be that, if like you said, you make a Lunge, and your charachter Still has to bring down his first blade, He can continue to attack with the Second an Finish off whomever else it is Who's attacking him. This can be seen in the Vidoc, as the Elite Uses one Blade to Cut the Brute's Lower Legs of, and follows it up by using the other blade to Stab the Brute in the chest. Also, the "Halo 3 Wishlist"'s Photo of a Masterchief on lockout with an Extra Energy Sword is either PhotoShopped, or Is of a mod for Halo 2. (Enabling The Dual Wielding of energy Swords is actually easy, but it looks retarded in thirdperson and also will cause your secondary blade to drop to the ground if you attemp to Melee with it, or lunge with it. Only the FirstPerson View Actually Looks Credible, so that means it's probably Photoshopped or edited somehow.

In reply to: Dual Wielding Swords is Very Likely.

So what if they made a 3d model. Think about it, they had the mongoose ready to go in Halo 2, but at the last minute they decided that it wouldn't fit into gameplay. It isn't very early in development, but they are still nowhere near polishing the finish product. They could make all the models they could think of and only put 1 or 2 into the game itself. I'm just saying, there's no use in saying that it may or may not be in the game, we have no confirmed proof that Bungie has decided to make dual wielding swords possible. Don't get your hopes up.

I have said that this is not final. And we are not sure if halo 3 will have dual swords. But it does seem to have a good chance.

This is now too out of date. But pretend i said this 3 years ago ;).
It Is actually very easy to model and make your own 3d animation in 3ds max.(if your a pro) And the sound can be edited in or even (again if your a pro) be made from scratch. But there is a way of dooing it (I think due to youtube although it may be a fake).

Actually since this was posted, other materials came out that were official-- a wireframe animation showing an Elite using dual swords to behead a Brute. However it never made it into the game, at least not as far as the beta.

So, not in the game, but probably not fake, although the clips cited here might not have been genuine. Bungie at least considered the idea long enough to do some animation, even if it was, perhaps, intended only for cutscenes.

Dual swords? Um, how about no. I highly doubt that Bungie will even release Halo 3 if dual-wielding swords is some new feature.

I don't think that even I would play the game then. But of course, nothing we've seen for far is concrete, keep that in mind...remember Halo 2?

Seriously, dual swords? Think about how ridiculous that would be. It's Halo, not Bloodrayne!

Well, from the looks of it they will have dualswords in halo 3. But that is not a fact yet so we will see.

That is right. We dont know yet. But it does seem very likely.

What is so ridiculous about dual swords? If you dont like dualswords what do you think of the idea to be able to dualwield a sword and another one handed weapon?
