About five years ago, I wondered that the introduction of a PC-like console, plus a network service like Xbox Live, might lead to consoles and console games that were just as buggy as their PC counterparts, and that would require constant post-purchase updating to fix the many glitches.
That day is now here.
Major Nelson's blog confirms what Frankie wrote in the last Bungie update-- that the latest Backwards Compatibility update for the Xbox 360's emulation code had broken the widescreen, 720p features of Halo and Halo 2.
Xbox Live now has an update for that update that fixes the issue.
UPDATE: It appears that either the update to the update, or the entire original update itself has been pulled; it's not clear which, or what the status of Halo 2 on XBL in backwards compatibility mode of Xbox 360s is at the moment. Hopefully more news will be available soon.
