Word is reverberating around the 'net about Microsoft's announcement of a $299 price point for the Xbox and a November 8 launch date. That's the the same price that Sony's PlayStation 2 currently sells for, and a launch just three days after the Nintendo GameCube debuts. Note, however, that Nintendo announced their launch date after Microsoft announced theirs.
Here's a couple of stories elsewhere on the web:
- Xbox: Wait Til November (Associated Press via Wired News)

The consensus seems to be that while Sony has a lead, Microsoft's resources may be enough to doom Nintendo and possibly catch up with the PS2. Stay tuned.
