Kudos again to CyberBob, who sent in some information on a new Halo preview in the latest issue of german magazine PC Intern. Quite of bit of new information... here's some excepts from the letter:
The demo, which was shown to them run on a 500 Mhz PIII with a 32 meg TNT2 card. They said MythI/II were nice, but not very impressive. Intresting was that they knew about the Marathon [series], but they said it was Apple Macintosh only (hmm no mention on Mara2 for Windows).Something not yet mentioned is the flamethrower, which they not only described as intense , but as very fireing :) (at the end of the article they said what has impressed them most and I quote: A flamethrower fireing underwater?
They also said that the Covenant are lighter and faster then the humans and MOST IMPORTANT: They have finished multi-player and are starting on the single player campain now. I don't know about it, but it might be so, since they (Intern) set the shp date in summer 2000 and 3 months singleplayer dev and another 3 monts beta sounds reasonable.
Overall they seemed very impressed by Halo.
Multiplayer complete? News to me... but we haven't heard anything from Bungie on this in quite a while, so anything is possible. If they are indeed finished with not only the engine but the netplay phases of development, then the engine is likely far more complete than we have even begun to suspect...
